Have any of you declined the valve check?
How about an average cost for the total service.

I need to get mine in before Chitown but am at the mercy of my local dealer...LOL

:dontknow:
12 thousand + miles on my 08 GS never checked the valves, Don't know what the cost for service would be, I've never brought it in. I just change oil and filter myself. That runs me about 75 dollars for oil and filter.

Thanks Bob, I feel the 6K valve check is excessive and unnecessary, but wanted the advice of other ryders. Thanks again, Dave

got a question.
If you have the valves checked and they need adjustment, how long does it take to get the shims?

My dealer says valves should go for 20K miles. Also posted on another thread.

I just did the 6000 mile service myself and did not take it in to have the valves checked. I may at 20-24k miles especially if the bike becomes hard to start or turn over etc. I am not sure what that may do to our warranties fi there is an issue but its a chance I and I beleive most are willing to take.:chat:

:agree:
Same here. = They [brp] weren't sure how many miles the valves would stay in adjustment,
So they just figured use an overkill check schedule.
And let the owners [us] figure it out for them.
P/S I'm passed the warranty now, I have the Spyder over two years now.

I was told today if you dont have proof that the 6K service, along with valve check was done and you have a valve issue, you are on your own. I had mine checked today and all were within spec.
