Anyone else taking a Memorial Weekend Spyder Trip???

I'm going to Minnesota to visit one of my brothers - taking the long way through the Upper Peninsula--- about 800 miles to where I'm going. Will take the 'shorter' route on my way home--- which is only 600 miles.

Leaving Friday afternoon--- coming back Monday.

Supposed to be GREAT weather!

I wish I had a trip planned. Enjoy going through MN. The weather is supposed to be beautiful, except probably humid (we've been having a lot of that lately).

I'm registered for the WestCoastThunder run in Riverside, CA. Over 7000 bikes last year going to the National Cemetery. My mom and pop are buried there. This year will include a 2nd parade splitting from the first to the Soboba Casino.

We are waiting until Friday. Heading to Eastern Colorado to see my mother-in-law. Found out yesterday there is a bike rally in town that Sunday that happens once a year in a town with a population of 1700, maybe. There is a motorcycle god! From there we head west to Denver and meet my brother-in-law for lunch and then move on to Black Hawk for a little casino recreation and meet up with my wife's sister and her husband. Then back to Texas. This is somewhere in the neighborhood of 1800 miles. More if I can convince my wife to take the senic route through the mountains coming home. This is by far the most we have ridden for any trip. I guess we will get home, uhm....., when we do, I guess.

No road trip here, too many kids with too many baseball games. But the Spyder is always a home run at the fields. Stay Save to all those taking a road trip and God Bless and thank you to all those men and women that make it possible for us to ride free!!!!

You should be passing through my neck of the woods. I was just up through Muskegon last weekend. Beautiful area up there along the big lake. Enjoy and ryde safe.

I'd love to ride the U P on my Spyder. I go UP there all the time snowmobiling and fishing, but have not been UP with the Spyder, not yet anyway. I love parts of highway 2 on Lake MI, and I'd like to cruise the Keweenaw and other parts of the Superior shore line. Enjoy all the great scenery and have a great weekend.

I'm about 45 minutes north of there in Rosemount.

Rochester's a nice town, though I've only been there once.

Packing the bags and heading for parts unknown. "Hey, that looks like a good road"...we'll see where I end up...though I know it will be somewhere in the northern part of lower Michigan. Beautiful weather, beautiful scenery.

No plans. No destination. No problems!

I've had a lot of fun doing this in the past and met some pretty interesting people in the process.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend everyone!

Short ride to Blowing Rock for lunch.

I love Blowing Rock...good shopping, good food, good roads to ride. Got hungry for a burger from Cheeseburgers in Paradise (where they let the dog wander among the patrons - our kind of place!) and planned a ride specifically to Blowing Rock to order one (550 miles) only to find out they had closed. :( But still a good ride!

Yup, I'll be riding a short 8-9 mile ride each way to work both on Saturday and Sunday. I do have Monday off, but no plans. Not sure yet if Brian works on Monday or not.

Enjoy your air ride, and take some pics if you can. I like to see what it looks like. Wife and I have talked about flying down sometime in the future. I have always wanted to check out the Glades.:2thumbs:

You're a lucky one Firefly. My wife and I have been away from the UP for almost three years now for work, and miss the great summers there. We love northern Minnesota also, having lived in Virginia and Cloquet for a while. We are in SE New Mexico now and will be taking a trip on the Spyder to Inn of the Mountain Gods in Mescalero this weekend to celebrate our 25th anniversary. Have fun and be safe.

Gotta tell ya--- some beautiful ryding up here.... crossing the bridge was awesome--- and taking 2 is just great. great views, etc.... but then was able to set the throttle at 90 and just cruise for miles and miles and miles!

2 would be a great 'testing' ground for doc and his new turbo!

I made it around 400 miles today and am staying in manistique. found a nice local bar--- and then went to the casino.

400 miles tomorrow too..... great weather--- bike is running great. Took a pic of the cluster when I was going like 70--- with the temp around 86---- and I was running at 2 bars! missing DAM works!

I'm now 1,300 miles into my trip-- 3 great days of ryding!

Decided to ryde to Milwaukee and spend the night--then take the ferry across Lake Michigan tomorrow--- then have 150 miles or so to get back home. I just thought taking the ferry would be fun--- doesn't really save much time-- and while you avoid Chicago--- you still have to deal with Milwaukee traffic. Looking forward to relaxing on the boat for a few hours while crossing the big lake-- which takes about 2.5 hours.

Weather has been awesome--- high 80's and 90's the whole trip. Have not seen a single Spyder. Been swamped at many gas stations. Some have seen them on TV-- but most had never seen one.

man you should have tore up this way, no big lakes but plenty of twisty roads and a county to do what you want, much less running over a old lady AND hurting her. I have been up to the UP, some good roads but MI had some bad tar up in that area.

Worked all weekend talking to dip****s, only got some local rides in just a quick 85mile "test" runs with the new HD gocam.
