Everyone likes mods that are cheap and look good or cool at the same time.

I have had my spyder for about 2 months and all i have (mods) is an hindle exhaust, and a smoked windshield(should be here soon in mail).

List mods that could help me and other spyder lovers that have stock SPYDERS. i need ideas.

Thankyou

Since i am young (24) and wanted the look of a street bike in the back i got the plate relocator kit... only 50 bones and it has made the back of my bike look mean... people are always saying "that tire looks huge" which they would have never noticed with the ugly chopper style rear fender haha

Since my frame arms that hold the rear fender on cracked, along with one of the welds to the swingarm--- I had to remove my rear fender. I'll get the new parts replaced--- but doubt I'll use them as I like the looks of the open rear tire. It also makes cleaning the rear wheel MUCH easier.

Only problem is with rain and dirt the bike gets much dirtier.

Time for someone to invent a retractable rear fender-- maybe something simple like nylon fabic material that rolls up like a blind-- that way in the rain you could just roll it out in order cover the wheel.

yeah i agree about the rain... a buddy rode behind me in heavy rain and said i had about a 10ft rooster tail kicking up ( i was riding in 1/8 - 1/4 inch water ). Other then that i love it and i just got some raingear so no worries.

What are your priorities?

For me... Safety mods out weigh others...

So...Top picks for safety are upgraded stock and after market add ons. I consider windshields a safety item too.

Next up... Comfort. You want a comfy seat and comfy handlebar position, grips etc.

Convenience is next... You may want additional power outlets in the dash, garage door openers, and ram mounts for GPS, cup holders, etc.

So... Which of those is most important?

You can replace your Brake/Running lights with LED,s so you don,t have to go through the awful process of getting to them again!!

Pep Boys Auto- Buy Pilot LI 1157 RCZ 1157 Led,s $24.99 2 to a package!!!

Several members use them and they don,t affect the computer!!

Make sure they are LI 1157 RCZ as they sell single Led,s that don,t work.

Package says OEM Compatable!!!!:D

This could be considered a 'safety' mod as it will allow you to get out of the way quicker.......:D

The fact is there are so many different mods available for the Spyder, that you need to decide what direction you want to go in first. Wacky Dan has a priority list that works well for him; however, that may not suit your individual agenda.

A good example to share is my Spyder versus my wife's Spyder. Hers has handlebar risers, up and out mirror extensions, highway pegs, CHAD windscreen, ISCI arm rests, all in order to make it more of a cruising machine for her. All of my mods have stayed on the sporty side of the house, and I am now looking at more performance.

Once you begin building a list of what you would like to change, the members of this forum will be more than happy to give you a whole bunch of options to get you going in that direction.

One of the best things about owning a Spyder is the ability to make it your own.

Don't know about removing the fender, but might help my license plate issue.

Couldn't tell from the pics, do you have to worry about the tire bottoming out on the plate? Or does the angle give you enough clearance?

yeah actually you do (only 2 up though, also weight dependent )... i never had a problem when i was by myself i think the back setting was on 3 ( and i used to weigh 250 ), but when me and my girlfriend rode on setting 5. ive had a few rubs here and there ( still under the max load by 80 lbs ). The one side of the plate ( right is bent under... i just left it that way ). since i got the two bros exhaust she doesnt ride anymore ( she claims it loud and obnoxious ) :2thumbs:

That looks great! However, for some reason I have a feeling it doesn't quite fit into the "cheap" category. :D
