Hi,

I am a disabled rider who just purchased a Can-am. In order to get a motorcycle license you have to take a safety course here in Texas. Well, most are not setup for trikes. I have called DPS, and they just point me to their website to call Goldwing riders club and one other place. Well I have done that leaving a message two days ago, and have not heard back. Does anyone know where one can take a safety course near Austin TX?

Thanks,
Mark

Welcome!!

Try this organization. I know they do safety training, not sure about the three-wheelers. I met them in Temple, TX, a couple of weeks ago. They have classes in Austin, Hutto, and Killeen.

Thank you for welcoming me, and suggestions. It makes one feel welcome. I have learned a lot from this site prior to my purchase.

Finding a trike safety course is hard, so far. I have sent a bunch of emails out to various trainers. The one in Hutto does not do trikes. So far the closest is Dallas or Houston. Long ways to transport a bike. I did get the email and phone number to contact the head honcho for the state of Texas in charge of the safety course. I got it from Jon at totalrider. He suggested I call/email so they (state of Texas) knows my problem.

Thanks again.

Mark,

My wife and I are new to the Can-Am as well and I was doing research and came across these folks in San Antonio.

Supposedly they have a DPS approved three wheeler course.

We are also in Austin and was hoping to find something locally. Have you had any luck?

I will be contacting them shortly to get the details.

Hope that helps.

Mitch :)

I took the motorcycle safety in San Antonio at "The Motorcycle School", themotorcycleschool.com. In March, they were talking about buying a spyder to include it in their course.
Welcome And good luck with your hunt. :welcome:

I am signed up to take the next course at www.swmotorcycletraining.com (http://www.swmotorcycletraining.com). They have that course the third Sunday of each month for $195. Call 210-0623-8330 to schedule. Not on the online calendar. They use Spyder for demonstrating the exercises. Maybe I'll see you there.:welcome:
