More about the RSV4 engine:
"...features a very flat 22-degree included valve angle, specified by designer Claudio Lombardi from his days at Ferrari as the optimum setup. Forged pistons force a high 13:1 compression ratio, with titanium intake and nimonic steel exhaust valves."

I have NEVER seen BRP go to smaller engines but a 750-800 cc that gets 40-45 mpg and is less expensive might get some action!
My bet is MORE convenience items and a Hard Core more powerful Sport model?:dontknow:

For some reason I keep remembering a mention of a 750-850 with a CVT and reverse.

I'm not sure a 750 would get any better MPG. You're pushing the same brick down the road with the same wind resistance......the 750 will just have to work harder at it.

I think it would be silly to go smaller.

With a few modifications like = 93 octane, purple oil, helium in the tires,
zero flow air filter, And maybe add some well placed speed holes a
750cc should get about 50 mpg :roflblack:

I think they will do something, and not that there are a lot of problems. I would hope they would get all the issues resolved first before they come out with more models. Build up the confidence of the community and move on from there, it's a new technology but I would hope they have a solid product before trying something new. Just my thoughts, I think there are so many possibilities.

:agree: Unless the Spyder sees a wind tunnel, and hides some of the suspension under aerodynamic wraps, it has the wind resistance of a 4' x'4' brick. Takes a lot of horsepower to move a gigantic brick...especially at the speeds Doc rides. :D

I would not expect a new, major model until at least 2012...and maybe not even then, unless the economy and sales pick up.

I think if they made a GS model w/ a stereo system and a few more doodads people might buy them - it would be cheaper than the RT and have some nice stuff on it. Maybe include some hard bags and a small fairing?

Even though it's a bad economy there are those that are doing ok or want to go riding real bad and will figure out a way to buy a toy.:2thumbs:

Provided of course, that the Mayans were mistaken.

In the current issue of Motorcyclist magazine, the Aprillia got some very high marks. It's top speed on the track was about 165; however, that was only pushing 2 wheels at a wet weight of 473 pounds. I wonder how much of that power we would lose with the 800 pounds we are sitting on? It would still be a cool concept though, and true dual exhaust would almost be mandatory.
