Thanks Dennis for doing this -- you're serving a great cause. If I were 1,900 miles closer I'd be with you.

What a great day for a ride. It wasn't as cool as the weatherman had predicted for the start but cool enough. As I stated on an earlier post all of my friends gimped out. :dontknow: We had the only Spyder in the field and as usual it garnered it's share of attention from lots of folks along the way.
First let me congradulate The American Red Cross of Northeast Tennessee on their first annual Ride for The Red event. I heard someone say there was 66 bikes, I didn't count them but it looked like a lot more to me. I will try to find an official count and update later.
Second I give a big Thank You to the local AmVets for leading a safe ride through 5 counties. They did an outstanding job of blocking traffic at intersections along the 107 mile route.
As soon as the ride began my check engine light came on with the scrolling message. I pulled to the roadside, removed the key for a few seconds, put it back in and started up, no message. The chase truck was just about to pull over when I got going again. I caught up with the rest of the riders and brought up the rear for the first leg of the ride. We made four stops along the way for refreshments provided by Pepsi and serviced by different chapters of The Red Cross. They also had a poker run drawing at each stop.
The check engine light reappeared after the second stop but didn't seem to affect the performance of the Spyder so I kept going. At the third stop it disappeared only to come back by the fifth stop. At that stop I pulled all of the relays and reseated them, no more problems after that. The last stop was in Kingsport TN at the Eastman Employee Center. There we had the last poker card drawing and a meal provide by Outback Steakhouse. There was drawings for door prizes provide by various sponsers as well as cash prizes awarded for the best , second best and worst poker hands. We didn't get any of the goodies but had a great ride and met some good folks.
Next year should be bigger and better.
My odometer reading shows 213.3 miles for the day.
