I assume the new 660 will be able to fit this bracket. If so, count me in!

Fantastic. I want 1 for sure. Can I assume it's an easy install? Whether it is or not, I'm down for 1!

'Zzzzactly what I've been looking for....(IF??) it will also take the Zumo 660. I've tried every way I know of to find out how to mount the 660 in the exact spot you show here. My dealer doesn't know... BRP won't give us an answer... You be 'da man!!! Count me in... Len

I have not tried the 660 just because I don't have one, but I think it will be a direct bolt on with the hole patterns I have.

Installation is very simple. Just remove 2 bolts from your handlebars, and install longer bolts with spacers and our bracket.

Matt,
I bought the new Garmin 660 with my new rts. but, I also have the Tom Tom Ryder 2 that was on my 08 that I used with My kewl center console with brackets you had made. Just wondering if you can make new brackets to fit it on my rts?

Thanks,

Mad Matt

Victor,

If you have the Garmin, then I think it would be a bit of work to swap between the 2.

Mt RT handle bar setup will have multiple gizmo mount spots just like my adjustable risers and my RS handlebars. So when you install my RT handlebars, you will have the best of all worlds.:D

Thanks Matt. My order has been placed for the bracket. You guys are much quicker than BRP for making these available.

Matt,

Great to know. Can't wait to get the new rts all decked out. I'm also wondering about grips on the new RTS? You had powder coated and sold me the iso's on my 08. I'm hoping it will be possible to do a similar setup with the 2010?

Thanks,
vwatso

Just purchased mine today and really looking forward to seeing the finished product. Was afraid it would be located somewhere awkward and unsightly.

I would be surprised if you can change out the grips readily. They are assemblies that bolt on, due to the heaters and the electronic throttle. It may be possible, but it is no longer a simple slip-on. Let us know what you figure out.

Kind of in a hurry to get something going (cannot find anything anymore with a good GPS) so I fabricated a quickie mount out of some all thread rod and a friend made a nice little plate to hold it.:D

Now taking RT 101 trying to learn how to get a hot wire for power. They did a good job trying to keep us fools from fooling with it!:yikes:

Finally figured out how to upload the Picture

Don't know how to upload a picture so I put it in the signature. Hope it works out.
I don't think it worked.

Thanks Wheeler. Apparently it did not. If I click on my avatar, it pops up for me. Sometime next week I will try to learn how to upload pictures.

Got the wiring figured out tonight and will get a chance to ride with others for the first time tomorrow.:2thumbs:

My friends have never seen a :spyder2: so I will have fun and feel a little sorry for them!

Why feel sorry for them? :dontknow: After seeing yours, they'll have no excuse for not getting their own. :lecturef_smilie: Until then I guess you could feel sorry for them. :ohyea: 'til then "you be da man." I hope you can upload those pics soon. :gaah:

Dave01,

All the steel pieces should be arriving tomorrow. IF we can get them through powder coat tomorrow, they will start shipping late this week. We are trying our best to make that happen.

Great. I've already installed the power and the audio cables. When can I expect my bracket ?
Incidentally, posting the video instructions is exceptional.

Here is the reply I just received from BRP's Stephane Bertrand, district sales manager for Florida, when I asked him personally to see if the 660 mount could be purchased directly from BRP..... Len
Hello Len,
I validated with BRP right to the source and the brackets are not available separate. The way the purchase agreement was done between Garmin and BRP is that mount and GPS are sold together. Maybe you could find someone that could machine you the part? Sorry I couldn't help.
Thanks

Stephane

Excellent news, I'm eagerly awaiting mine.
I know the BRP kit for the Garmin 660 has a form fitting plastic cover which protects the mount when the Zumo is removed. Have you thought about anything like that for the 550 ? I'm thinking I'll have to fabricate something, maybe out of some vinyl, but I'm real interested in anybody else's ideas.

The finished product is black and appears gloss painted. I hadn't even considered some kind of cover for the mount. Not sure it needs one.

I'm sure the KewlMetal mount looks great. But unlike the RAM mount originally supplied with a Zumo, the Kewlmetal mount requires you to permanently attach the Garmin mount to the bike. Maybe I'm the only one, but my Zumo shares duty between my bike and my car. And I will often go out with the Zumo removed from the bike. If you take the Zumo out, that leaves the naked Garmin mount. I'm thinking of some type of cover for the Garmin mount.

OK.... I'm slightly confused...

The 550 has a dedicated bike mount and a dedicated car mount, therefore why would you want to remove the mount from the spyder anyway?
Maybe i'm missing something...

Can't comment on the Kewlmetal mount as apparently mine is on backorder..... go figure

The Garmin mount has a rubber cap that covers the electrical connectors between the garmin and the Garmin cradle to protect it from the elements. I never removed it from my previous bike. The cradle shouldn't need to be covered.

Here's a picture of the 660 cover that BRP includes with their RT mount.

I'll try to fabricate something like this, probably out of some vinyl and velcro, although I'd prefer to remove the Garmin mount altogether when I remove the Zumo.

IMHO, there is no better security system than OOSOOM. (Out Of Sight, Out Of Mind). If there is no mount visible, there is less likelyhood for unsavory characters to go monkeying about.

Of course, YMMV.
