Just be aware that is probably the cheapest mod you are ever going to be able to do! :D

It does make the front wheels look better though, at least in my humble opinion.

I like the look too! But... I got mine and the damn adhesive never stuck. So I never got them on. I still have them so I am curious as to what else I can do to make them stick?

Did you rub the break with alcohol? What about contact cement? Just a thought, I used that on my first jet ski to hold down the hydroturf and it held it down very well.

Hi, thanks for the note.


I did use a little heat to install them. Basically I just put a halogen light close to them while I installed them, and the heat from the bulb (I'm hoping) helped to get the adhesive working good. I then held them in place for 30secords of so, and pressed in hard on them.


Perhaps something like plastic-glue (http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Windows/Doors/Product-Information/Products/Adhesives/Plastic-Adhesive/) would work for you since the self adhesive is likely worn or not functional for you now. Products like this, or similar, are flexible and easy to install. I would wonder about CA types glues, unless it has a low viscosity. The really runny glues may not work well and become brittle in colder temps, as it goes on very thin. Just my thoughts.

In any case, the important first step is to thoroughly clean the calipers with alcohol or a good cleaner that takes grease and oils off its' surface.

Also, watch out, don't let glue drop onto your rims.

Removing any grease or dust from the surface plus heat should get you good adhesion.

I painted the calipers red before installing the trim pieces. No problem with them sticking to the new paint finish, however using GE silicone rubber to "glue" the pieces down would work if anyone has problems installing them.

I had a set not sticking. I used Silicone glue on them.

I was going to get a set for my RT, but when I talked to the dealer he told me that he had 3 sets come loose. The caliper is cast(not smooth)which does not let the glue stick well, in addition the heat build up in the caliper causes the glue to lose adhesion properties.Needless to say, I left without purchasing that accessory.

You inspired me! I just ordered the trim on ebay for $15 delivered..cheap indeed! my last mod was from Vertica trikes and that ended up being over $800 (started at $595) because of excessive shipping and then tarrif costs...the Spyder bites you hard! In a good way.:spyder2::doorag:

What's with the tariff costs? I thought NAFTA provides for free trade for personal items. I never paid duty on anything I got from Canada.

I was tracking the Fedex shipment from Canada - it came up delayed at the Toronto border for days. Then a Fedex broker called and told me that anything over $200. has to be declared and has tarrif and taxes applied:mad:

I talked to Ken at Vertica and he said most slip through without the Tarrif being charged - I'm just lucky I guess..............

Took over 6 weeks to get the product and $200.+ in shipping and tarrif/tax cost.
