I had a fun ride yesterday on my new sled. My kids were gone and I had the day to myself, so I decided to head out to Island Pond in the NEK for the day. I loaded up my sled on the truck and took the road trip to Island Pond which is about 80 miles from my place. When I arrived I found a place to unload my sled, I suited up and headed for the trails. It was a sunny day in the north country with temps starting around 10 degrees F and climbing into the 20's in the afternoon. The trails in the east mountains were scenic and breathtaking with plenty of snow to ride on. The colder temps kept the trails in great shape. I stopped in at this little rustic bar and grill type restaurant in Norton Vermont called "Chez Pidgeon's" and had lunch there. This is a great place for snowmobilers to stop in to eat and drink after a few hours on the trails. They have plenty of cold beer or hot drinks, good home cooked food and desserts to satisfy your taste buds. When I arrived, there must of been 60 to 80 sleds in the parking lot. The place was full of people, which come from all over the northeast, New York and even Canada to ride in this part of Vermont. I then headed back on the trails and made a loop back to Island Pond where I started and finished my ride with about 109 miles for the day. I loaded the sled back on the truck. I took the two hour ride back home with a nice memory of my day in the North East Kingdom. I can't wait to go back and do it again. These are some pics that I took while on the trails.

It sure is a different perspective being on those mountain tops and looking down into the valleys! I guess that is what I enjoy most about snowmobiling. You get to explore a lot of scenic places along those miles and miles of trails. Vermont alone, has about 6000 miles of maintained snowmobile trails that interconnect with the border trails across the state line.

Vt, looks like your having fun. I was in Rome, NY last weekend and going to tug hill this weekend. Buy the looks of the pictures, conditions are better were you are.

The Island Pond, Derby, Cannan areas have been real good as well as parts of the Northwest where I've been doing most of my riding. The clubs have been doing a good job grooming and maintaining the trails. although, rain is in the forcast for tonight and into tommorow, so conditions might not be as good after that. Hopefully we will have some base left and it will freeze up and snow again. But, it has been fun so far on the new sled. I just had the initial service done and now have about 900 miles on it.

Rain here also, I'm hoping for tug hill's famous lake effect to come in after the rain tomorrow. Forecast is for snow everyday from tues. on.
