Copied from the Texas Mile site. Look at Roland Freeman on the list number 14

Try 202 Km/hr for a Spyder...the fastest on that list is over 250mph...for a busa...no surprise there!

I agree 202.22 in KPH is reasonable, but the spreadsheet does say MPH and that the Spyder has no power added. I don't see how its possible. Even if the gearing was altered, I would think air and three-tire resistance would be a big problem. So, who will be the first to find photos and Mr. Roland Freedman? "No power assist" does not mean the engine isn't modified. It merely means that the engine does not run nitrous or a blower/turbo.

. . . . yeah, if it had been a Full Moon SE5, it would have been 225 mph. I stand corrected. :roflblack:

Here is another link with all 6 of his runs. I agree, it was in kilometers.

Ahhhh...thought so...amazing that some cannot read a speedometer...no way a spyder is going 200 mph...you're more likely to flip it over than go 200...think about the air getting under the front and lifting it up!

The clocks at the Texas Mile read in MPH. This is an apparent typo or an error recording the run. The clocks are photocells set up across the end of the course. There is no speedometer involved.

There is no way that Spyder did 200 mph. Someone needs to recalibrate their crack pipe.

Top actual speed (not Speedo) on a mildly enhanced Spyder (intake, exhaust & JB) might be as high as 130 mph and I think that may be generous.

Without running numbers my guess is you'd need about twice the HP to go another 70 mph with the frontal area of the Spyder.

With 200 kph = about 125 mph, this is the the only reasonable explination I can come to. But that throws everything else out of whack as a Busa will certainly do better than 250 kph = 155 mph.

Something is way off but it's for sure that Spyder didn't do 200 mph with anything approaching a stock motor.

Easy explanation is that someone typed a two where the one should be, either from a 102 mph bad run, or transposing numbers from a 122 mph run, or something similar. Either way, it is not a record unless it is backed up. Try typing these numbers into a spreadsheet with machines running down the course every minute or so. Easy for some poor volunteer to make a typo. :yikes:

I think the Spyder would simply flip over at anything near that speed...the air would lift it up...ever hit a bump in the highway at a high speed??...you can feel the air getting under the bike!
