I ordered a RT-S SE model today and have a question about Installing the Garmin 550 that I have on my 2009 SE-5 on the RT-S. Can the 550 be connected to the RT-S speaker system so that I can use the XM Radio option on my Garmin 550?

Yes. You will have to locate the XM (I put mine in the glove box) and then get a 6' extension with male/female ends. Plug the male end into the 550 and the female to the pigtail (3.5) that comes with the RT. Run the line under the plastic and the seat. You will have to drill a small hole in the aft cargo to feed the line to the aux connect. You now have volume control. You can also load about 400 songs on the SD card in the 550 and play then just by switching the source.

To mount your 550, contact Mad Matt at Kewlmetals. He is putting together a kit w/bolts and spacers for a secure and good looking install.

Hope this helps.

Forgot to mention I got power to the unit by running the power cord under the plastic direct to the battery (fused). I have to manually turn it on and off but I can live with it.

Thanks for your help. That sounds good. Now all I have to do is wait for my new RT-S .

John,

I hooked the 550 to the RTS and have a Cardo Q2 bluetooth on my helmet, I here Music, GPS, and also have Bike to Bike .

No wires and I control everything in front of me from the 550, I only have the power to the 550 mounting, pop it in and go.

There is a connection on the RTS on the handle bar under that 1 inch pop out in the center of the handle bar.

I also have the same mount on my BMW and can use the same 550 on that bike also.

Jibara,
Looked for the power outlet under the pop-out, couldn't find it. What kind of connector is it?
