KewLMetal Hiway Pegs Installed

Last Saturday I picked up a set of RT Hi-way Pegs from Mad Matt at KewLMetal. I had a 600 mile inspection scheduled on Wed so I had Jay Largo of Desert Dog Off Road, Fountain Hills, AZ install them for me as he had to remove most of the plastic from the left side to change the oil filter.

The install was very smooth but as this was Jay's first chance to remove this much plastic, we took it slow to make sure we knew which fastener came from where. Matt's verbal instructions were easy to follow and the actual installation of the brackets took about 15 minutes. There are a couple of tricks to watch for and Matt assures me that they will be covered in the final instructions that will come with the set. The only problem encountered was the shift lever was touching the left bracket but it was resolved by adjusting the shift linkage a couple of turns. (Be sure to check this clearance prior to replacing the lower panel)

The pegs are easily adjusted and I now have them where they are comfortable for me. The finished pictures are not the final position.

Matt says he has many more mods for the RT in his mind but the pegs were important to me. I went for a short 40 mile ride yesterday and after one last adjustment they did exactly whet I wanted them to do.

I installed those brackets on my 09 some time ago and am very pleased with them. They won't let you stretch as much as some but they are very strong and solid. I like mine.:thumbup:

These were powder coated black to match the lower parts of the RT.

can you post pics of you sitting on with foot on rest and either how tall you are or your in- seam measurement. mine is 33" and not sure if it would be comfortable,

I rode the demo today trying to simulate. would you brake with your right heel or lift and place on peg/ brake pedal?

My inseam is 30". The pegs do not extend as far as H-Ds or even my Goldwing but they are enough to change the position of my legs to get the blood moving again. With your long legs, I would check with Mad Matt to see if a 3rd extender could be attached w/o changing the integrity. I need someone to assist taking pics of me on the RT. Will do so in the next couple of days and get them posted.

I suppose you could operate the brake with your heel but to me it seems to be a very dangerous operation. I have no trouble pulling my leg back and using the brake normally.

With a brake pedal extender and those pegs, heel braking is ok for me. But braking is smoother and more controlled using the ball of the foot from the stock pegs.

couple questions, the type of board that you used on the right side was with silver and black and the left side looked all black but
I didn't see that type of footrest on your web site.

Also since I am getting the SE5, do I skip the stuff about the linkage on Part 1 of the video, and will or would anything else
be different??

again great job, is it just as easy to put back, I suppose I will just reverse the order or maybe review the pdf file

We sell the Kuryakyn ISO wings in chrome OR black. They only come from Kury in chrome, so there is a $39 charge for dis-assembly, powder coat, and re-assembly. If you want black, just add a comment to your order.

For the SE5 you will just be able to skip the shifter part.

To put the panels back on, just play the video backwards....

Just kidding...kinda...you will just have to reverse the steps.

The chrome Iso wings are $103.99. To have us dis-assemble and powder coat them is an additional $39. So the black ones will cost you $142.99.

Just received today my highway pegs:2thumbs:, the dealership has my bike today installing the GPS, I wonder if the same side panels are removed for both installs, maybe I should run this down there and have them do it at same time for a little more money.

they are easier to install while having the panels off for the GPS - hope they got the accessory harness also so that it hooks the GPS up to the radio system or they will have to take all a part a second time. Lonnie
