Looks like it's the piston seal. Should be an easy fix.

They come from the factory with built-in oil leaks now? That's beautiful. Kinda puts a damper on the Harley bashin'.....:roflblack:
I was told that Harleys don't leak anymore. :2thumbs::doorag::roflblack:

Let me get this one back together first and you can bring it over Bro. :doorag:

Got it all back together just now. To be honest I'm kind of glad I had this problem because now maybe I can help another member in the future if something like this shows up again.

I didn't have to remove the piston like I did but I wanted to inspect those seals too. The hardest part for me was getting that giant snap ring back on. nojoke

After I swapped the o-ring I found the part on the bad one in the cover. It's nice when you know you found the problem. :doorag:

This was the bad one.

The replacement o-ring

I was able to run it with the cover off and check for leaks. All is well.

I have never trusted the modern Harley's with no little oil puddle under them.:doorag:

:roflblack: It was always said that if your Harley or Triumph didn't leak, it was out of oil. :roflblack:

Hows a guy get that lucky! If that was me it would be a inner crank seal or the like. Must have been assembled dry, great fix none the less. keep up the good work. Gene

Nice work Lamont!

Just wondering, how many miles did you have on your Spyder when you noticed the oil leaking from this problem?

thanks, again nice work!
Cheers.

About 300 on this RT. My last RT had 2500+ with no leaks and two of the other RT5 guys have over 10,000+ with no leaks. It's not a mileage thing, it's a bad part thing.

I guess after the last experience, you weren't inclined to give it back to let them fix it, huh?

I guess that was part of it but to tell you the truth I don't mind problems like this. It gives me a chance to get to know the RT and maybe I can help someone else in the future. :doorag:

I'm glad that's all it was. When I saw the thread title I was afraid it was the fuel leak that seems to be getting some notice. That leak is messy, but not as flammable.
