Amsoil and supplies call Ron. "click: https://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?23928-New-sponsor-here-for-Filters-amp-Helmets

I use something other than that, but Ron has got your back when it comes to Amsoil, look at his page and give him a call.

Hey Leon. Right from the Amsoil on-line store. The Metric.

That still doesn't answer Leon's question. Try talking directly to Amsoil at "Product Support Call (715) 399-TECH (8324)," it's a free call. Let us know what they say.

Dude. Read the whole page. He asked if he needed the regular or metric oil. The link takes you right to the page for the 2011 Spyder RT with 998 engine. Specifies Synthetic Metric. Says Metric right on the bottle. Crikey! What more do you want?

Yep dude, you're right but it doesn't say why. Is the difference in the oil or is it just the label?

Well, friend. It's kinda like this...What difference does it make? Leon never asked "why". He asked "which one". He's been given the answer to that question accurately and with references, direct from the manufacturer. If YOU want to know why, then you can call Product Support. You have the number.

If you search the main Amsoil company website under 10W-40 for 4-stroke Powersports, you end up with 5 choices, but only one fits the Spyder application. If you search the store by Make, Model, and Year, all roads lead to the Synthetic Metric for the Can Am Spyder. Their "regular" 10W-40 is JASO MA rated, and stated to be suitable for a wet clutch. But their recommended Synthetic Metric oil for the Spyder is JASO MA/MA2 rated. Maybe either one will be suitable, but why not just go with their recommendation and eliminate the guesswork? The Spyder is metric, after all, and it's only 50 cents difference.

I just use XPS oil. But, that's just me.

At this point, just stop digging and let it go. Leon has his answer, and he can decide.
