After having my PE SM5 show up months late from what I was told at time of deposit. I am wondering how close to "on time" the RT's will be to the promised Dec. delivery date my Dealer said when I orderd it?

How many of you think the RT's will be on time or late? :dontknow:

If you think they'll be late, how much do you think they will be delayed?

Based on the stuff I have read about dealers getting their demos in November and my dealer actually getting his sometime last week, I am betting that they will be shipping on time.

My Dealer still does not have his Demo, was suppose to come in 2 weeks ago. I was told that my RT will be here end of January. :dontknow:

It would make a great Christmas Present, wishful thinking!!!!

I would not count on that, after all I believe they were closed for the first day of Deer season and they may not have wanted to be bothered.

Order my RTS the 3rd week of Sept. I asked for a March delivery date so that I could have it payed off by the time it arrived. Order was placed and accepted for that time arrival, however my dealer also order me a trailer at the same time. Because they said there would be a 4 to 6 week waiting time frame if trailer was not ordered at the same time. It's only money.:2thumbs:

We are new to Spyders and were looking for a complete touring package for my 5'3" wife, she rides a R1200R 07 BMW but wanted more touring comfort.

We walked into the dealer in So. Cal. and they had a Black RT-S on the floor ready to go so we bought it.

I just registered to SpyderLovers.com and read that there seems to be a delivery issues, sorry to hear that and feel guilty it was so easy to get one.

Congratulations. Do not feel guilty. It sounds like one possibility may be that the dealer sold you what was supposed to be his demo unit. That is just a guess of course. But either way, glad you are happy and you now have a spyder. Enjoy the ride and the miles.

Do you really think they would rather hold $1000.00 instead of $25,000? :hun:

Timely post! We ordered a RT-S PE last Saturday because I was a little worried about delivery dates. We have a major trip planned late May, early June and I wanted to be sure to have had the RT-S long enough to have break in and the first service out of the way. Dealer explained that he thought the PE's would be delivered first, and by the order date list. BRP has also extened the time frame to order the PE to Jan 4th. After telling us that he then informed us that promised delivery on the PE was by March 31 of 2010. He said he expected ours would be delivered before then but it might take until 3/31. If I read the PE certificate right if it isn't delivered by then I can get my deposit back. 3/31 wouldn't cause me too much pain because our weather isn't real condusive to riding during the winter months but I'd still like to have it asap anyway. I have good winter riding clothes so I could get some miles in. We are excited!

I would think the dealer would hold the deposit with interest accumulated thereon as the dealer has nothing invested. However, the profit margin I am sure is MUCH MUCH larger than the interest they would get on the sale. So you are correct about the sale. But, if I were to have 10, 50, or 100 $1000 deposits and I held it just for 30 days, that interest would be free money.
Then again, why don't they go ahead and finance it and give the buyer 60-90 days free before payments start? Well I think the answer to that is dependent upon how sure is the delivery would be within that time frame.
Of course this post is just an ole man's thought.

Hi guys, The dealer we purchased the unit from was Corona Motorsports, in Corona CA. off the 91. We went to Mission Motorsport and they had one for sale also but they were asking $31K Plus out the door, so we shopped around. My wife has 200 miles on it from this weekend, and we road it up the Ortega Highway for breakfast at Hells Kitchen and she says she loves how it handles, she kept the electronic sp. on max. hard and it was smooth and handled well. I'll post a picture tonight of the bike in the garage with my wife at the controls, seems there is a little disbelief, and we had the same disbelief after joining the SL website and seeing the posts. I agree with your comment, this was each dealers demo bike, and in this economy they were willing to sell it and we were blessed.

You all should be proud to know this is a great site with great people, never seen a more helpful group. Thanks

My wife is concerned on how difficult or tiring it may be to handle the RT. Right now she handles her VTX1300 Honda all day with a little bit of discomfort at the end of the day. Do you think this may be aproblem if we start riding a Spyder? Any thoughts will be aprreciated.:helpsmilie:

I'm not a spyder owner yet. But I did take a ride on the RTS yesterday, it's fantastic easy to handle, I am so use to riding the Queen Quad this RTS is like a small sports car with power steering in comparison, I'm in love with it.

Riding a Spyder is more tiring physically than riding a motorcycle, in my opinion. We ride both, and my wife's Spyder was her first road machine. She is a petite 5'2", so if she can handle hers with ease, I doubt your wife will have any issues. It is just because you actually have to steer, rather than just countersteer to initiate a turn, that there is more effort involved. The rider also has to lean into the turn, bending or shifting pysically, which gives a bit more of a workout.

I have ridden both Spyders. The RT will be the easier of the two stock machines, due to the closeness of the handlebars. On the standard Spyder, your arms are fairly straight. When you turn, one arm bends and pulls the bars, but the other cannot push since it is already straight. With handlebar risers, or on the new RT, the arms are naturally bent, so the rider can pull and push at the same time. This make steering much easier! BTW, don't forget that both Spyders have power assisted steering.

In my opinion, the spyder is a physical machine to ride but not too physical. I have ridden back to back iron butt's last year without ever having ridden one before.(iron butt) The steering was never an issue. When you ride a lot of twisties, it is more work than a 2 wheeler but in a fun way. I don't think you have to muscle the spyder, if anything, you need to learn not to muscle it and ride easy with it. That is actually the hardest part, trying not to steer so much and to relax. I have met many female spyder riders and every one of them is smiling and happy with their choice of spyder.

I am small, and because of that never rode a bike unless I was on the back which I found very uncomfortable and unpleasant. I began riding the spyder the first day with absolutely no problem. The only thing that causes any discomfort is the seat which I will be replacing before next spring and that there needs to be a way to stretch your legs out via either floorboards or highway pegs. I don't see riding it as physical at all or tiring. Handling is not a problem in any way.

I'm 5 feet tall. I came off of cruiser style motorcycles. Only difference is like what others said - you steer it and you don't lean. Plus you are in a more "sport bike" position rather than a cruiser. Your legs are a little more behind the "mid mount" position and farther away if you were riding w/ floorboards or forward controls on the Honda. Also she might wanna get Magicman's handlebar risers - takes some of the pressure off your arms and wrists.

Also some people like the stock seat but I felt I was sitting "on top" of my Spyder. But if she's going for the RT, then that seat is real comfy. I sat on a RT but never rode one. and sitting on that is less "sport style" as compared to my Spyder which isn't an RT.

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif I am a new Lady RT-S owner 5'3" 135 lbs. NO PROBLEMS
I just picked up my new RT-S last Thursday 11/12 and have put 200 miles on it with out any straining on extra effort above riding my BMW R1200R, or any other motorcycle I have owned. All I can say is this is a dream to ride and gives me everything a touring bike can be, and at my 5'3" height the RT-S is the perfect ride.

So you are saying you bought and have taken delivery of your very own new RT-S Spyder? That is great, that would mean they are ahead of schedule on delivery. :congrats: and welcome

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif New RT-S Black
Yes, that is correct, I guess the dealer Corona Motorsport received the demo unit and had no problems selling it. In this economy who would ?

I put 200 miles on it this weekend in the mountain curves, not tired or sore at all, I'll take some pic's to share with you guys, I would highly recomend it for a small stature person, it is wonderful and is the only way I can get all the comfort goodies without worrying about droping it on its side or my foot. I would say Ladies unite and buy one and see what the fellas have been enjoying!!!!:2excited:

It's really nice that you were able to walk in and get one when there were folks who placed a order the day the RT was released that will have to play by the same rules that all the other dealers agreed to.

I know it has nothing to do with you but that dealer broke an agreement with BRP by selling you that demo unit. Bad economy or not it is still wrong.

Anyway welcome

http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/images/icons/icon1.gif Thanks for the Welcome, I think
I was just trying to help a follow lady rider and give her feedback on her question on the site, I thought that was the idea,to enjoy the spyder, share our good times, and help each other out. I had no idea of what a dealer is supposed to do or not do and the rules.

I hope I don't have to stop sharing my excitment cause it is causing a problems. That would be a shame as that seems like the basis for us all being here.
