I programmed in the hotel address from the confirmation I had.....1775 Freeway Ct. Salem, OR. and only 1 choice came up.
(you cannot add a zip code as far as I know in Garmin.)
In Salem there are apparently two Freeway Ct. streets in 2 different zip codes, but the GPS only showed 1 for the above address.

The GPS sent us on a 20 mile sightseeing route all over Salem before we stumbled on the hotel we were looking for by shear luck.
From I-5 Garmin instructed to exit at "Commercial St". That started the problem. Come to find out, Exit at "Market Street" would have put us right at the hotel !!!

Anybody else ever have this kind of issue with not being able to program in the correct address if there is more than one zip cpde with the same street address?

Yup, Been there and done that, a GPS is good, but at times it gives me a hassle, Now that I have a cell phone and google maps, I can get to there better. Google maps are updated more frequently then Garmin maps.

I have that issue with both GPS and Google maps. They are not as smart as they think they are sometimes but mostly they do good.

When was the last time that you updated the maps in your Garmin?

Seems like all East TX got fat fingered  update or not. FYI, sitting in the dealership where I got it & it wants to go 6m down the road, using preprogrammed default info :dontknow: Maybe it's just clerical errors, maybe just to keep us on our toes? One of worst issues I've had was when something messed with the clock settings & had the compass flipped  nojoke

I called Garmin tech support who helped resolve it; thankfully, I was at home & happened to notice said was facing the wrong way. **Zumo 660**

One must remember that Garmin itself as a company does not update the maps that are used in BaseCamp and individual GPS devices; it is done by a third party that delivers a finished product to Garmin. How that third party company prioritizes inclusion of changes to North America City Navigator map versions is anyone's guess.

Might not always be Garmin's fault. Check here: https://www.gps.gov/support/user/

Trust your GPS at your own risk. I've been led down the primrose path more than once.

On the other hand. I've taken off thinking I knew where I was going. (And I actually did, but wasn't paying attention). Ended up heading in the wrong direction. Took me a long time just to get back where I started. A GPS would have kept me from making that error.
