Ditto !!

During 14 years in the Army, I attended many a ceremony where the cake was cut with a sword.

Hats off to my fellow ground pounders.

Thanks for the Birthday well wishes!

The ceremony is full of tradition. The oldest Marine present, youngest Marine present, Officer's Sword to cut the cake, boots and helmet representing the fallen. When the cake is cut the first piece goes to the boots in honor of those who are no longer with us. The second piece goes to the oldest Marine, who passes it on to the youngest Marine which represents the handing down of the traditions and honor of the Corps. The third piece goes to the oldest Marine. Then everyone else gets a fair shot at a piece. ;)

At my old job we would actually have a ceremony as many of us veterans were employed there. One of the guys would bring in his dad who actually served in the Korean War and the Frozen Chosin! Now that was a cool experience. I missed that this year.
