I'm thinking about taking the dive on a new F3. I've read (mostly) good things here about iMoto, but I can't find any mention of fees on their web site. Do they charge setup and freight like a local dealer? Do they play any tricks with hidden fees?

Thanks!

Brian

Living in Canada, I cannot honestly answer your question. If it were me asking, I’d contact I-Moto by phone or text and ask them the question on fee’s. Get the answer directly from the horses mouth.

I guess that is one way to put it.

They did/do offer free delivery for Spyderlovers members - be sure to ask.

Second the recommendation to contact them. Would use email to get the information. This way if any issue arises, you have it in writing. Too many times I have been told inaccurate information over the phone.

They claim free delivery on all motorcycles over $5K

I bought a Indian Roadmaster from them 5 years ago and they delivered free from Florida to North Dakota.

The free delivery is not in question. I'm wondering if they tack on freight and dealer prep, among other things.

no freight other than is charged by anyone

So, you are saying they don't charge freight, but they charge transportation fees, dealer prep fees, DOC fee, pre-delivery fee, reconditioning fee, advertising fee, extended warranty fee, GAP insurance fee, VIN etching fee, window tinting fee, extra dealer markup fee, and market adjustment fee.

That sounds reasonable!

Second the suggestion to email them. Simply reference the unit you want and ask for a complete out-the-door price, including delivery if you won’t be picking it up.

Did that, waiting for response. Thanks for all the help!

Just be careful of their rebates. I almost bought a used F3 (a few years ago) from them and they gave me a price of $18,000. Then they added the rebate amount to the price. The Bike was $18,000 with a $1500 rebate, I was quoted the price of $18,000 before any mention a rebate, then when I got the paperwork, the price was $19,500. I canceled the deal.

But I did buy the Best extended warranty on both my bikes. I did not buy from them.

It sounds to me like you've got that description of what was going on OR your understanding of what was happening somewhat backwards!! :yikes:

Are you sure you didn't get quoted a price of $18,000 AFTER the rebate?? - ie. A gross amount of $19,500 less the $1,500 rebate leaving you only needing to pay $18,000?? :dontknow:

"Rebates" are usually deductions from the total cost, not additions :lecturef_smilie:

After all, the word 'rebate' basically means:

'an allowance by way of discount; a deduction from a gross amount'; or
'an amount of money that is returned to you'... ;)

Just Sayin'

No Peter, NOT THE WAY they did it. I was quoted $18000 for the bike then they said, "Oh there is a $1500 rebate on it." What would you think? Only when I got the paperwork, I found out they added the $1500 to the price.

I'd think that it wasn't a 'Rebate', cos they come OFF the price - it sounds more like a 'Surcharge', cos they ADD to the price.
