Towards the end of Nov of 2022 I called my dealership in regards to the recall and replacement of the sprocket on my 2018 RT. They told me to call back towards the end of March 2023 to allow them time to get it ordered and replaced before the 2023 riding season started. Since my RT passed the initial sprocket inspection at that time and since late Nov pretty much ends the riding season here in the Pacific Northwest it was really no big deal to me. I was pretty much going to get her tucked away for a long winter slumber.

So today I called and spoke with the Tech, Erick. I’ve dealt with this guy before, he’s really good and a pleasure to work with. He told me he would order the part today and he’d call when it comes in to set up a day/time to come in and get it taken care of. He told me there was a good supply of them now so it shouldn’t take too long to get it in, maybe only a week or two.

He asked if I’d be needing an oil change and I told him no, I had one done in Nov and only had 984 miles on the new oil. I keep maintenance records on that sort of stuff.

That should be the last thing I need to address before my long anticipated road trip to Deadwood in July for the 3Wheel Rally. I wish I could get a little bit of a break in the weather so get back out on the road for a couple of quick spins around town. Sigh……………

Let us know if it comes in that quick.

I have a buddy who has supposedly had one on order for over a month now. I set it up for him so I know it was done as I had to give the serial number before they would order it.

I was told the same thing at the time, (only a few days). I called to check on it last week and was told that it was indeed on order.

One would think that if a dealership had sold (ordered) 12 spyders from BRP that met the recall requirements, BRP would have shipped 12 sprockets to be available for installation at that dealership. But I guess that's just my way of thinking about how customer service should be handled.

:chat:...I had to wait two weeks in February. Currently the wait time is about 10 days for the parts.
Supplies are available for doing this repair.
Check with your Spyder Dealer and schedule
a repair.

Stay Healthy. ....

Wow, I am surely one of the lucky ones timewise. I got mine done last December. Evidentially, my dealer sells enough combined Can-Am products that they were able to get a somewhat large number of the new sprockets and went down the list of Spyders that they had done the interim fix on and replaced them in the order of when they did the interim fixed, that is, first one (not me) that got the interim got the new sprocket first, and so on. I was at the dealer a couple of weeks ago and out in the middle of the showroom they literally had a Sea-Doo pontoon boat right there. Darndest thing I've seen in awhile, this big boat towering over the bikes on the floor. A new one on me.

Was it the new all electric one? Seen pictures but none in person yet. Both lines are being released later this year the electric boat and jet series. I Didn’t realize it would be this early. Must be a pretty big dealer. BRP put a showroom square footage stipulated area for dealer to carry the boat series like Polaris did with the slingshot. I saw the haas electric series boat at out outdoors show a couple weeks ago. The stats are pretty impressive as in power and weight really surprised me. Not as much as I had thought, but boy the specialized marine power charger was as much as 1/2 the value of a new car.

What is most likely really happening is that dealers are not ordering inventory to keep on hand for stock. IE not thinking about their customers in relation to the dealers bottom line. The MFG needs to up their game as well in working with and enhancing their Dealer Body.

I think there is information on the recall notice to the dealers that refutes your above.

Are the replacements even available to order for non recall folks?

My riding buddy with the white 2018 and I both got ours replaced 3 or 4 weeks ago by Nash in Mesa, Az. My cyclic belt noise that occur about 45 mph is gone! :) :)

We did the Roosevelt Lake loop yesterday with two Wings.
