My husband and I are leading a trip to the Parkway Oct. 17th from Morganton, NC. We did a trial run yesterday to see what route we wanted to take and how long it would take. I've lived here all my life and the views still take my breath away. Here are a few of the pictures I took. We are inviting anyone who wants to ride. If you live somewhat near Morganton come and join us. I posted on the NC website the actually route we will be taking and what time we are leaving. We plan on eating lunch either in Boone, Blowing Rock or Pineola. Make sure you click on the pictures so you really see the colors! These were taken below Grandfather Mt.:

Wish I could make it... Wife volunteered me to move someone that day...

For those in range, this is a great ride well worth going on.

i hate that you couldn't make it. i would move it to the next weekend but that is hubby's birthday and i'm treating him to a camping trip to the ironhorse motorcycle resort near deal's gap. it is prettier and less crowded on the skyway this time of year. i would love to have more come with us to robbinsville. the more the merrier!

Wish I could make it, but I'm not in town that weekend. That is a nice ride and I'm really sorry I can't make it.

we like it there too, more of a family like atmosphere. i love the community dinner "house" where the owner cooks dinner every evening and all she asks is that you make donations to help pay for the next night's groceries.

Beautiful photos. I see that the trees are starting to change colors now. I was sorry we missed that while we were out there last month. That's the one thing I miss about living out there.
