I find I miss the built in compass that my previous ride had, a Honda Goldwing. I want to add a simple, basic compass either to one of the flat surfaces, such as in front of the speaker, or clipped on the handlebar. Anyone have a specific product suggestion?

I like your idea, but all I can offer you os GOOD LUCK. Any compass that I know of is going to be affected by your Spyders electronics. Any Goldwing that I had never had a compass, and I don’t know how they overcome the electronics issue.

Good Luck!!!

I'll probably order a cheap one from Amazon to clip on the handlebar. If it doesn't work, easy to return (which is one reason I use Amazon for almost everything I want).

Actually just thinking about it, most GPS units have a built-in compass that will at least show you which way in north.

That should work for you, sort-of.

Some have replaced gauges Early models & had magnetic interference. Again early models. Current concerns would be vibrations maybe & or just thefts/vandalism wile parked.:sour::dontknow: gps usually do have built in feature will Connect work with & allow?:hun::dontknow::dontknow::roflblack::barf:

Near a speaker will definitively not work, and on the handlebars will only tell which way they are pointed. The only GL that I can think of that might have had a compass was the 85/86 LTD/SEi. Most automotive electronic compasses were mounted in the headliners to get them away from circuits and moving iron. GPS compases rely on satellite fixes and are not effected by magnetic fields. Try an ebay search for one that has a compass display for cheap.

Most GPS map apps on smart phones have an option to show a compass.

:agree: This is what I was going to suggest.

Did not see anyway to adjust for the magnetic fields given off by different parts of the Spyder. Were you just able to find a sweet spot to put it?

I just bring my wife. I get lost in a bag, she's great with directions.

Wherever you mount the compass Check it is giving the correct headings as all of the electrical/electronic gear could effect it. Wouldn't want you u to drive off into the desert and get into trouble as some have that trusted GPSs.

Watch out for Magic Mirror mounts as well.

I tried to add a compass……magnetic interference was the issue I ran into.
