The manual says that when the motor is running, the turn signal will automatically turn off after 30 seconds. Very misleading! After a ‘shallow’ turn, you must turn if off yourself.....same thing for a lane change. IT WILL NOT automatically turn off after 30 seconds, or at least mine won’t.

:agree: ..... It is what it is .... poorly made or poorly designed .... lots and lots of complaints about them ..... Mike

So, it's not a GoldWing. The common complaint on their auto-cancel was that it acted too soon.

The cancel is not too good either wearing gloves, left, right, left, right then off. (maybe)

Mine does! It may be more than 30 seconds though. I've never timed it. It's longer than I like!

Never have had a problem with winter or summer gloves.

Idaho, do you mean to tell me that if you signal a lane change that your signal light will self cancel shortly after? or are you no longer on your ‘14 RTS?

I think my Harley’s were made at the same place:banghead:

With time, yes.

Why not just turn it off yourself?

Look at the original post....he’s a new owner trying to learn about his new to him spyder, so he came to us asking questions. Is that so wrong?

30 seconds feels like a very long time when your driving down the road with the blinker on.

People need to mind their own businesses, not where I'm going. Therefore, I do Not use turn signals.

My '14 self-cancelling seems to work well on 90 degree turns well enough, but anything else - not so much. And yes, I've run into the same issue when trying to manually turn them off - turn on the opposite signal, then maybe off.

After this thread arose I was on a long stretch of U.S. 29 in VA and pressed my turn signal button for a right turn or lane change and just let it blink until it self-cancelled and it did so in about 30 seconds.

Interesting. I’ve never left mine go quite that long. Guess I’m gonna have yo try it!

30 seconds is long enough to make someone pull out in front of you thinking you are about to turn right at an intersection. They should be waiting on you no matter what on a left signal. However, that's part of the learning curve; which is why the OP asked this question to begin with.

I've never had a problem with canceling myself even with my heaviest winter gloves; can't understand what's so difficult about pushing straight in. (2014 RTL)

So how many times has someone had to stop abruptly to avoid running into your rear since you suddenly (to the driver behind you) apply your brakes to make the turn? Nobody cares where you are going just need to know how to adjust their driving to avoid hitting you. Oh and it's against the law to not signal your intention to turn. Cheers!

To cancel them manually push IN not left or right. My 2012 will cancel in30 secs even on a a shallow turn or lane change but I can't wait that long.
