Hey all, does anyone have any experience with the Big Ear - In Ear Stereo Ear Plugs? The ones that I am looking at is the BE - 1C model. They have allot of good testimonies, and they say that you can use an I-pod with them, and you can even use it with chatterbox (with some sort of attachment). What do ya'll think? http://www.bigearinc.com (http://www.bigearinc.com/)

Thanks

Heard of some people trying different brands of similar products--- but they were much less than these.

Amazing that the 'entry level Pro' version is $1700 !:yikes:

. . . . Ultimate Special Editions, and they are disposable too. Don't you just love marketing people.

I agree with Firefly, these are over the top expensive. There are tons of alternatives, but you will have to find the one that personally fits you and your situation. I hope those on the forum who have written about this in the past chime in and give you their favorites.

Personally, I use a pair of Etymotic's ER-6i s (with foam inserts) and really like them. When evaluating this type of thing, I always read what the Headroom ( http://www.headphone.com/products/headphones/in-ear-monitor/ ) has to say about them. ( they love the Ultimate Ears ).

But, your windshield, helmet, and riding style will dictate how well anything like this will work. A shame to spend thousands on these and then still have a problem with hearing the wind howl through bone induction. Or even worse, breaking them when taking off your helmet.

If your ears are that good and your wallet that fat, I would work my way up to them. Get the bike basics (windshield and helmet) tamed first, then see what works and what does not in the ear protection / headphone categories (cheaper alternatives) and then go for it if they look like they will work and they will make you happy.

Oh, try and find out how long these generally last and what maintenance they require. I have always found the cables on these type of things to be a problem one way or the other.

I just bought 3 sets of noise cancelling ear buds from Woot.com Haven't received them yet but looking forward to try it. Can't beat the price at $7.99 per set.

I had tried the in ear molded headset for my small airplane and never got used to them or liked them. And they were very expensive though not as dramatically so considering the cost of aircraft headsets.

Under my helmet I wear in ear buds I picked up on Amazon that also are one of the first third party wired with microphone for my iPhone. Figure this is one less thing to carry with me and does the job.

I think this is a battle we all wage. Tweak the helmet, windshield, headphones. I sometimes wish someone would come up with the 'perfect' setup premade. I have always wondered why no one comes up with an active noise reduction helmet. lol

I was thinking about these. www.earfuze.com/ (http://www.earfuze.com/) Anybody used these. I have some regular ear buds that I use on with my ipod. I tried them with my GPS and just couldnt hear the music even though I had it turned up as loud as it would go. I figured too much outside noise was getting in.:dontknow:

dltang and I both have decent quality, noise isolating, earbuds. They are just like the foam earplugs but with tiny speakers in the middle of the foam. Hers are Westone UM1s and I got Shure SE210s. They work very good with both our iPods, iPhones and GPS.

I had a set made a couple years aog and use them very little. On long rides they start to hurt. Plus their customer services sucks. Took them 10 weeks to make mine and hsip them to me. Also unless you come across them at a bike show it's hard to get one of their "independents" to schedule and appointment to get the molds made.

I bought a set of headphones for $10 cut the head band off and velcroed them in my helmet and they work great:2thumbs:,I did the same for my wife with the ones that clip over your ears, she says there louder than her ear buds and you dont have to adjust them. I had problems with my ear buds moving when i put my helmet on, but not anymore:clap:.
