Sorry, its taken me so long to upload the pictures a number of you asked about. I'm not a computer Guru...Joan

I bought the 9" KewlMetal Handlebars and Console. They give me the rise/pullback I need. The Corbin Saddlebags and Trunkbox hold a substantial amount of gear. I don't need to worry about removing them as I use backpacking "compression bags" for my gear. When I open the saddlebag, it's just grab and go.

Very nice. It looks like you had to make changes to your cables? I have the 7" bars and kind of wish we had gone with the 9, but my husband thought it would mean changing out the cables.

Hi Gayle,

Matt at KewlMetal said he was able to install the 9" handlebars on his wife's bike without changing the cables.

I, on the other hand, also have the BRP 1" riser. So with a total of a 10" rise/pullback, we went ahead and installed the longer cables. We ordered them from KewlMetal and the cost was very reasonable.

I'm riding very comfortably now...Joan ;)

810, you mentioned in another post that since the install of the 9" bars, your hubby is unable to ride it. Why is that? And, in a full turn, does the bar spread make it difficult to maintain a good handle on both grips? The way it looks, I'd like it if the bars were only 26" or 27" wide, not 31". Would you like it if the bars were narrower? Just asking.

We re-bent the bars (which were like a prototype) from 31" down to 27.5".

Since these bars worked so well for me, Matt at KewlMetal put the 9" size bar into production. We've ordered another set of 27.5 tip to tip from him, as they now have knurling on them (which the other didn't have). The normal spread is 31" so you'd have to custom order anything different.

I'm 5'2" and the 27.5 fits just right. Any spread tip to tip smaller than that would defeat the purpose, so don't go too narrow.

Sorry, forgot to answer your question about hubby not being able to ride it.

Bob is 6'4" and I'm 5'2", so there's a big difference in height and reach. I mostly use the 9" rise handlebar really as a pullback to allow me to sit on the comfortable part of the seat. With the stodk handlebars I was sitting as far forward on the seat as I could get...which makes for a very hard ride.

The position of the handlebars that is most comfortable for me...makes it quite cramped for Bob. He likes riding his Victory Vision anyway..Joan

I have the 9" bar too and set at about the same angle backward as yours and rode it to Daytona and back(650 miles one way in one day) and I found I was leaning back too far so since have set the handlebar straight up. Much better for me as I'm 6'2" tall. Yes I hit the windsheild in a full turn but that doesn't happen very often. Wife is 4'11" and had the 1" BRP riser put on when she bought Spyder and when she got to NMM trailer she got the 3" risers. Said It was much better going home with higher handlebar. 650 miles in one day home but took longer breaks when stopping for gas. Looking for a trailer to haul them next year as I'll be 67 then! Dang am I really that old????????????

Joan, your spyder looks great!
I'm actually thinking about getting the Corbin trunk box for mine. How is the passenger backrest area on the trunk box in terms of comfort and fit?

The comfort of the backrest is decent. Right now I'm trying out Ksin's Corbin seats, which sit the passenger up higher then the OEM seat. Thus, just how high the placement of the backrest on the passenger's back will be dictated by the height of the seat itself...which may or may not contribute to comfort.

Is any of the Instrument Panel hidden from view with this setup?

The instrument panel is in full view. What you saw was the result of the angle at which I took the picture.

Go to www.spoiledbiker.com (http://www.spoiledbiker.com). This cruise control kit which is specific for the Spyder is currently priced at $757.00 out the door! Order it soon as the dollar is going up, and since this comes from Australia, the price will be going up as the dollar goes up.
I ordered one from Joe this week, he said it should be at my door in 2 weeks or less. He seems very knowledgable and helpful!

You need to remember that the $920 is in Australian currency (unless their price just skyrocketed through the roof). It's much less in U.S. $$$$$. If I remember correctly it was a bit over $600 U.S. when I purchased mine...Joan
