Just an FYI if anyone is thinking of being around the Hills around that time. It was announced that the Fireworks display at Mt. Rushmore is going to happen unless it get really dry out and the fire danger climbs or something of that nature... It's been quite a few years (11?) since they've had it.

I always liked going to Mount Rushmore. Sure has changed a lot out in that area since the first time I vacationed out there.

If you do go , plan on being there early as it really fills up fast.

Very true, cars were parked in the past all the way down to Keystone. Long uphill walk from there. There is also good viewing from Iron Mountain rd if you can find a place to pull off. Maybe the service road? Norbeck overlook will probably be where I would camp out. Great view but a little further away.

Lots of dead "Bug-Trees" in the black hills. Dead dry evergreen trees are very flammable. lost about 40 so far.
