Hi All, Was sitting at a light behind a ‘vette with a personal plate: “C6 2005.” Sooo, does that make the new RT/RT Ltd an S3, or Gen 3, New Gen...Gen Current, Latest One, or just New one? Or stop daydreaming about my new rt and pay attention to the road? 🤗

Good question! As I see it the 2020 will be the fourth iteration of the RT. 2010 to 2013 with the V-twin engine, then 2014 to 2017 with the 1330, then 2018 & 2019 with the new cluster, and now the 2020 with a significant body redesign. Maybe we should call it the RT4!

There is that ^^

But the 2013 RT's did come out with the new frame & suspension intended for the 1330 motor that didn't arrivein time... so maybe they should be the RT Series 2?? Or at least a Series 1a, cos they are significantly different to the 2010-2012 RT's.... :dontknow:

But many vehicle manufacturers change their 'Series' every time they make a minor change, like just adding a new colour to the range, or changing the trim spec.... So maybe there should be a new Series RT for every year where there's a new colour &/or a spec change.... which'd mean a new series for the RT-S with the shorter windscreen, then another for the Triple Blacks, and again for the Daytonas, and so on and so forth!! :gaah:

Maybe it's just better to leave it the way it is?!? :dontknow:

Do not over think it.

Realize Yamaha made RT1, RT2, and RT3 motorcycles from 1970 to 1973.

Oh, didn’t know about those other iterations for the 2013 and 2018-19s. Well if I go with a personal plate it probably will end up as something real introspective like, SPYDER1 (as in my first!).

I would not worry about technical descriptions for personal plates. Only :ani29: people may figure them out. Most people, based on past threads about personal plates, were based on something else.

My 08 had SPYDR1 on it. The first Spyder sold to a customer in AK.
My 09 had SPYDR2 on it.
My 10 had BLKWDO on it. Premier edition RTS. Black was the top of the line color that year. The next year, black got pushed to the bottom of the line. Great marketing by u no who? :roflblack:

After 2010 I stopped using vanity plates. I just named my bikes for the "halibut."

2014 became "nanner," it was yellow of course.
2011 became "baby," it was Linda's bike.

Last, but not least the 2019 became "ernie" and 2014 got renamed "burt." One is yellow and one is orange. We even bought one of each muppet to become passengers on the two bikes.

Make it fun, and enjoy the ride.

Ha! (Didn’t Burt and Ernie originate in “A Wonderful Life” as the cop and taxi driver friends of Jimmy Stewart?)

I forgot about that one. Your right of course. They had the muppets beat for sure. That was in blk and wht, so I went with the color option names. :roflblack:
