They shrunk it. Saddle looks more sculpted. Nice evolution in the marque.

Earlier model years should get a boost in resale value from this development I think.

It will be interesting to see these in person. They did mention the base RT and the RTL would be about $1300 less than the current year. I like the no top box from the RT model. Looks are a bit different. Can't wait to see the new colors available.

Enough to make me pull the trigger....probably not.

They said they lowered the seat but the driver has 2" more leg room and Passenger has 1" more leg room.

It sounds like accessory add-ons will be more modular and similar to how you accessories are added to the Ryker. More DIY for those non-mechanics like me! I'd buy one!

One question, does the wheel base look wider than the previous RTs?

In the trash can, it was. They spent about 5 mins on the Spyders and only 2 at that. No mention of any engine changes. Very short and simple. Was very upset with the outcome.

I like the looks of this when the trunk is off. Nothing that I would switch up for, but the larger saddle bags (larger than my F3T) are nice. I also like the larger frunk.

billybovine

So they now put the RT on the F3T/L chassis with a different set of body work. The old RT chassis was introduced in 2013 and was the same as the RS and ST. So I guess time to go.

I do wish BRP would do a better job of marketing. Their website and video's are flashy but don't really show or get down to the nitty gritty of the bike. Think they ought to give a better tour of the design and changes etc., I understand that this is their way of marketing but people who buy the product and own one already, would love to know the details, see the details, understand the details etc., you can't learn with the video's they have produced. Think they could improve on that for sure.

Bob204bc

I think it looks good and seems to have some great features. Long footboards allow you to move your legs (That's why I ride a F3L), removable trunk that is wide enough to hold two helments, and better electronics control panel. What I really want to know is how big are the saddlebags and the frunk? Are they bigger than the F3 bags because this looks a lot like a modified F3.

Thanks a lot. I looked, I liked, I printed a build it page, I looked at potential dealers.

They even got me with the RT in Petrol (Aqua) color...been waiting for that since about 2013. I like the "clean" look...no top box. Found two accessories...the heated comfort seat and the front auxilliary light. No need for the $2K top box in back. So far...$24K and change.

Remaining....a dealer who is willing to give me a good deal....and I am hard when it comes to that. The looking and make an offer stage to follow.

Keep in mind this was the dealer show, not consumer show. They repeatedly said, "Come see us in the showroom!" That's where the dealers will see the details. Consumers just have to wait our turn!

That's because it IS a modified F3. Same chassis with more options added. The new frunk is larger with the radiators moved outward and facing forward. Its just a trim level up from the F3 limited now.

Does anyone know if there is more room for the passenger front-to back? My wife and I are on the bigger side, and having some room between us would be really nice. Our 2018 RT LTD is a little cramped.
When we had our HD, I moved the tour pack back 2 inches (52mm) which allowed some air to pass between us. I wonder if this can now be done on the 2020 RT LTDs?

The took the RT and merged it with the F3 so now you have an F3 that you sit on and not in. Still is going to be an expensive bike to maintain due to all the plastics that have to be removed. Maybe it will grow on me by the time I get tired of my 2020 F3 Limited due in anytime soon.

HHC- Hill Hold Control. Is this something new for the Spyder?

Someone else can correct me if I'm wrong, but the first time I saw HHC being advertised for the Spyder was in 2018 for the F3 and in 2019 for both the RT/F3. In 2018, I purchased a new last-year's model 2017 and remember seeing the spec differences where the HHC was being advertised for 2018 Spyders but not the 2017.

IMO, very little to get excited about. I' ll hang on to both my Spyders until Honda releases the neowing. In general, the demographic trend is towards an aging population, probably more so for motorcycle riders. That being the case & for safety concerns from most governments world wide e.g. [ in Australia if they could get away with it, motorcycles would be banned in the blink of an eye], i think most Japanese motorcycle manufacturers will very soon have a 3 wheeler, which could spell the death knoll for the BRP Spyder.

47 with top case, thought I read 36 in specs? If it's 47, then that would be a huge improvement over the 41 gallons on the pre 2020 mods, maybe then the top case would be worth the extra @2K on the RT. Without the top case, there's no comfort for a passenger and less storage. The RT is a touring machine designed for two up riding makes no sense trying to make it into a one up/sport touring machine. That's the for the F3...I don't get it.

I like the RT, seems to me that with all the new mods, we RT riders can have a taste of both worlds, ie: remove the tox box and with the similar look to the F3 get the F3 feel. The linq system allows the owner to change it up for their various needs at a given time, already has the high mount break light / better floor boards / bluetooth / looks like the same handlebars as the F3, so no specially made mounts to add for phone etc, not really seeing anything is needed (as in the over priced aftermarket accessories) other than to hop on and go for a ride. Sad that they did away with the orange color for this years model though.

It looks to me to be one or two steps backword,
the passenger now does not have the security of the trunk with backrest
and the arm rests to ensure they don't fly off in turns.
They have made it in my view into a one person trike with
an occasional passenger seat. Even with the removable trunk on
there is less storage room than before

Not sure I agree that they have taken a step backwards, while a backrest and armrests can be installed, albeit this this might look a little odd it is still pratical. My first impression when i saw the released pic of the RT (without topcase) was that it is somewhat akin to the Goldwing F6b (of course less the 1800 6cyl motor) with 2 wheels up front and made me wonder if that is the look and feel they are pitting this model against as a tourer.

Regarding the rear trunk. Honda did the same thing with the refreshed Goldwing in 2018. As for capacity the 2018 RT Limited is about 178 litres, the Goldwing 110 litres including the trunk. Compared to the touring standard bearer we have nothing to complain about!:2thumbs:

The 2020 Spyder RT promos (https://youtu.be/DqBt0C_BG4o?t=66) do feature dirt road riding RT's at the 1 min+ mark of the 2020 Can-Am Spyder RT // The Ride Reimagined video.

We can ride our current RT's on dirt roads just fine, just the way they are. I've done a couple hundred miles of dirt roads on my '13 RT with no ill effects. We're talking graded dirt and gravel roads not off-roading like the RT Rallye's can do...

Dave, what I think they did was take some of those bells and whistles out and made them a optional equipment!! it will make the aftermarket guy's happy! All in all I think they have made some good changes in the style, tho don't like the open shot to the radiators, looks like trouble! But see the cover in front of the brake pedal. I wonder if that would be a issue?

Also, does it still have the brake away feature of the floorboard when you hit the brake pedal real hard in an emergency.

For me this is a huge improvement over the current RT.

Also wonder if the arm rests can be added to the RTL, not sure the top case will allow that.

I really love the looks and the changes made especially the brake pedal location and the new trunk. I find the brake pedal on the current RT's is cumbersome especially for someone with bad knees. And I find the trunk on the current RT is about useless. Looks to be a cross between an F3 and an RT and I can't wait to see one up close and personal.

If you go to the website and do a build, the answer is yes. It is a BRP add on feature.

hopefully it will be good for people with big feet. my hubby rides my current 2014 Rt Limited a lot & he wears a 16 1/2 shoe & he does complain about the current brake peddle sometimes.

RE armrests, I noticed in one of the promo video's that the 2020 arm rests have an upturned front end compared to the current straight arm rests
Waiting to see how my wife likes the new rear seat and arm rests.

Almost all the high end bikes come with Key Fobs that can lock and unlock the trunk and side bags, also no push button start, and we know that most folks aren’t happy with BPR’s new nav system. Sure the bike looks a little different but the motor, trans haven’t changed, maybe next year, BTW I own a 2015 RT Limited,

Whew...... I thought they might have come out with a higher performance shaft drive that would make my bike obsolete. Looks like same-ol-same-ol cosmetic upgrades. No reason to jump to the "new" stuff...... Jim
Couldn’t have said it any better myself, the 1300 is ok but it could be improved, better fuel mileage, quieter Apple CarPlay!

I am glad they stayed with the same wheel sizes, and not gone down the Ryker path where they are the only thing on this earth with the tyre size.

The Au Ambassador also mentioned last year the RT in its current chassis was due to expire and give way to an F3 chassis.
