OK.....I got 35000 miles on my 2014 ST. Was checkin the front pads today. The outside ones look great.Lots of pad left.My question is.How can one see the inside pads without removing the wheels? Do they usually wear the same?Replaced my rear at aprox. 25000. TYIA Tony

You are getting an amazing amount of miles from your brake pads. But you need to see the inside pads. They should wear evenly. But they don't always. The best way to see them is to take the wheel off. Not that hard to do. But with a mirror and good lighting. You should be able to see them on the bike.

Thanks Dude.I just went back out there n kept wigglin the mirror around n got an "ok" look at em.You are correct. They are worn more than the outside.BUT Still look only 1/2 way worn out. I am very surprised. I am very easy on my machine.....Always use engine breaking and start stoping a good ways b/4 I get there. Ill keep an eye on em.......Thanks again.

If they are only half worn you are doing amazing, they don't come new with a whole lot of meat!! Good job

Thanks Dude.I just went back out there n kept wigglin the mirror around n got an "ok" look at em.You are correct. They are worn more than the outside...Just a for info... Provided the brakes are working correctly, the outside pads are the ones which wear less because the caliper sides flex apart slightly under the pressure of braking. The inner side is attached to the front suspension so is the more rigid side, the outer side moves ever so slightly outwards under pressure. Just thought it was worth folks knowing why...

I would prefer the 10mins work of removing and replacing the wheel than guessing if the inside one is OK!!!

Suggestion: This what I did, swap then inside out, outside in. You will be good for another..... Lots of miles.

And no,they will not be noisy by doing so. Clean the slot and a light sand on the pad edges, and you will be good to go. This applies to rear pads as well.!!!
