My brother and I are interested in buying the buds system and we are having a hard time trying to figure out which one to buy they have two versions one that allows to program keys and one that doesn't. Does a yone know if we can add the key programing later down the road if needed? Or do we have to buy it with the key programming?

Thank you all

Starting out you would buy the kit. That includes the MPI-3 cable, software and a software licence. There are 2 types of software. BUDS for 2016 and older Spyders. BUDS 2 for 2017 and newer Spyders. Normally you get with the kit both types of software and the basic license for both. You can upgrade the licence to a Megatec/Mechronic licence that will give you options that the dealer does not have.

You can program and delete keys for models years 2014 and later with the basic licence. For 2013 and earlier models you do not need BUDS at all. Just a master key. That's available from BRP. If you wish to turn the DESS model off on 2014 and later models. For that you need a Megatech or Mechtronic licence depending on the model year.
