Heat kills battery!

Well it looks high heat, up to 120 degrees in Texas desert killed my 14 month battery.
It’s been sitting outside with cover on but ridden weekly.
Battery is weak enough now, it won’t crank. I don’t think a battery tender will help.

A battery tender will help to keep a steady charge and prolong the life of the battery i put all my motorcycles any time I do not ride for more then 2 days have been doing this for the last 25 years got 8 years out of a Golding battery in Texas heat but that was luck

I ordered a new off brand battery from Walmart as the that was the only place get it delivered by Friday(I am leaving on Saturday for California) and I will try putting a battery tender on it. I was thinking it would not help because it’s the chemical part of battery that’s changed by heat.

I am lost now.
last night while I was getting ready for long trip, I found a loose cable that goes into HID module for fog light.
I secured it, put everything back together and now the battery is holding charge again.
I had it jumped yesterday to move it, didn't go far parked it and tonight, its starting right up.
It did not crank after sitting for couple of hours when problem started.
could it be that loose cable to HID fog light was draining that much electricity?

I received the off brand replacement battery from Walmart but now I don't know if I want to replace the yuasa with it.
its a $60 off brand battery that I had to get because that's the only thing I could have delivered by today before leaving tomorrow.
what's the shelf life of motorcycle battery? I was thinking I would keep it just in case.

not helping!!! If in doubt take it to any auto parts store and have a load test done on it, that will not lie and will tell you whats up with the health of your battery. Check all connections and have it done, may save you some cash!!!!

well, rode it our shop and had the mechanic put a meter on it and cells are healthy and holding charge.
I guess that one loose plug that goes into fog light HID ballast WAS draining that much electricity...

A meter reading doesn't tell you anything. A load test is what's needed

I had to replace my OEM battery yesterday after just over 4 years (but I ryde almost daily). The techie says I got top life out of it; that's the most they're good for (sez he). It's been cranking over kinda weakly for the last couple months now, but the new one spins it good.

And we've had triple-digit heat here for the last 45-60 days! Mine is parked in shade, but no cover.
