Hi all, here in the Land Down Under (Australia) we are told that overhaul kits for the Brembo Calipers fitted to our Spyders are not sold anymore. Is this correct?

A fellow Spyder owner has been told that in order to overhaul the calipers he has two options :

Send the calipers to Brembo in Italy for Overhaul.
Send them to the dealership who do the same?
Or they must be repaired by the dealership.

The story goes that a vehicle fitted with Brembo's was overhauled with a kit by the owner in the US of A, and a problem resulted in legal action against Brembo who then decided to discontinue the sale of overhaul kits....
I note to that on the BRP website the we can't get the part number for the kit.

Hm, I was told by the dealer here that they didn't list a rebuild kit, just the whole caliper and that I should try to get in touch with Brembo to see if they had a kit. So far, no one here seems to know. The dealer didn't offer the rebuild option either.

As far as I know there was never a rebuild kit offered for the brembo brake calipers ever in North America. Or for the previous style brake calipers. The question has come up often on this board and never have I heard mention there was ever a kit.

Seems they would offer an exchange.... turn in the faulty caliper for a new one but at the cost of repair only. Generally the only thing that goes bad are the seals...:dontknow: I know it sounds logical and we know all about logic....:roflblack:

G'day askitee

Seeing you are In the Hunter area, go see if Better Brakes or some brake specialist can rebuild the calipers.

Worth a try.

Cheers

G'Day Fearless :)

I found a M'Cycle dealer who can order kits for other M'cycle brands that have Brembo calipers, but he needs the part number to be able to try. This I haven't been able to get from the Spyder Parts list website. The BRP parts list website does however list a kit of sorts for the reservoir for some models, so i would have thought the calipers would have a kit available too.

The 4 Auto part dealerships here in my location can get them for Brembo car calipers but not M'Cycle, but you have given me an idea to try a specialist Brake Centre.

I can get them for a 2017 Honda Goldwing :( and other road going M'Cycles, so it sounds like a revenue scheme.

It would be great for BRP to clear up some of the mythology associated with the brand - it can only help minimize the damage it does to the reputation of the brand.

I recently had a leak in my rear caliper under warranty. The dealer chose to replace it saying they are to hard to rebuild.
