Just wanted to show how the VHT SP402 finish looks after applying a high gloss clearcoat ! WOW - talk about close to BRP color :yes:
I applied 3-4 coats using Rust-oleum Universal High Gloss Durable Topcoat from a spray can! In case you don't know, this line from Rust-oleum comes in spray cans that actually spray with a pattern just like a spray gun would ! Easy to use at any angle and sets/dries quickly in between coats (5 minutes recommended).
Note this was put on parts with the common "dimpled" texture. I'm sure if I wanted to I could put on enough coats to make it look totally smooth, but why :dontknow::roflblack::roflblack:

Anyway, doing the cargo top maybe tomorrow. Incidently, these were sprayed clear after only 2 days of the VHT drying. I actually did a test "plastic bottle spray" last night with VHT, and this AM with the clear, and NO problems at all.:yes: So waiting 7 days like the VHT can says.....:dontknow: your call :roflblack::roflblack:
Anyway, just thought some might like to see/know :ohyea::ohyea::popcorn:

Couldn't wait another 5 days :gaah:..... just kidding …. you are one " wild an crazy guy " :roflblack: ….. :congrats: it looks Fabulous …. considering this is an off the shelf color , I think it is as close to perfect as possible …. at way less than what OEM paint would be …. and :agree: about the Rustoleum paint nozzle .. I wish all spray cans came with it ( hint hint Krylon )…. I found this paint years ago when I painted " Deanna777's Dash surround … one needs to be very careful with the amount sprayed with each coat …. I think you nailed it :thumbup::thumbup: ……. for those who want to paint an RSS which has this color in more of a flat finish, I did it to mine and then top-coated it with Matt clear ….. came out very nice …… Mike :ohyea:

I agree with your comment about amount sprayed per layer. I did notice right away I was spraying way too close and risking runs etc..backed off and also made sure of complete strokes across surface and all was OK.

This inspires me to try painting our RT-622 trailer. Great job.

Because of the chemical composition of this paint, the metallic stuff has to be suspended in a clear medium, this tends to make the paint " heavy ", ( ie. prone to sagging )….. I will repeat my compliment on your painting talents , you did a fabulous job ….. If anyone asks about using the same paint ( VHT SP 402 ) remember to tell them, if used on a plastic surface, the plastic needs to be Primed - because this paint will melt the plastic - it causes it to " alligator "...… Mike :ohyea:
