So for the first time in over 40 years: I didn't have a Bike to wake up from it's annual Winter Hibernation... :yikes:
I used to start about two weeks before riding time would commence...
The bike would get it's last drink of juice from the Battery Tender
The tires would be aired- up
Engine oil would get a quick look-see
I'd start digging around the house for my riding gear

… and I wait...

When the day arrived: I wouldn't look back until Winter once again reared it's ugly head! :2thumbs:

This year: every time a bike went by the house: I'd stop the yard chores, and wistfully watch it pass...

… and dream of past opening days...

Well I just pulled the Spyder in for the spring checkup and to add some stuff I got over the winter. I have to take all the panels off and fix the parking brake too its not working. New add on will be, horn, Driver and passengers floorboards, brake pedal, skid plate, armrest, trunk flag poles and chrome handlebar cover. So I may need some advice bob as I'm going through all this stuff.

Well Bob I got the spyder in place, jacked up and panels off. 171062 171063 171064 The parking brake was not working when I put it away for the winter so now I see why. 171065 171066 I notice the brake line has a coating / cover at the pullies, should that be on the whole length of the line or just at the ends where the pullies are? Still have to take the skid plate off in the front, the pegs, passenger floorboards, support board and seat back rest.

Bob while you were drinking coffee and.... :roflblack: I worked on the parking brake and got that fixed. I disconnected the line at the back using a 12 mm wrench, checked the spring in the back pully and that was good so I just put the cable back into the pully and then reconnected the cable to the bracket. I turned the key on, powered it up and tried the parking brake a few times, works great. I then looked at the front of the bike and saw that the skid plate needs to be replaced 171091 I order one I also have a show chrome skid plate for the front that I will put on the lower nose. I will work on taking off the driver pegs, passenger floorboard, brake pedal, support board next. Any advice? I think I got to much stuff over the winter, now I have to put it all on. My first planed ride is May 4th. But hoping to have everything on by middle of next week. So Bob do you really miss the spring work on the bike ? :spyder:

Bob I got the pegs passenger floorboards and support boards off finally, wow that was not easy if you don't want to disconnect the master cylinder from the lines and remove. The hard part is doing it with out pulling the plunger out of the master cylinder. took me about 5 hours to get them off. 171162 Now Monday I can start putting this thing back together.

Well Bob here's an update to the spring bike make over. I started working on it Monday and then late Monday morning I got a call and the Spyder took the back seat, there are now more important things I must do. The call was about an Honor Mission from the PGR. The mission was for a USM that was KIA; SSgt B. Hines. Funeral services were on Tuesday and Wednesday, so for the last two day I have been standing in a flag line in honor and respect of a fellow Marine who gave all. So, Bob tomorrow I will get back to working on the Spyder and think how lucky I am to be doing so!

Bob I got the spring updates done, a little late but finally done. I changed the oil and brake fluid. I added a chrome skid plate on the front added chrome support boards, Chrome passenger floorboards, Chrome driver floorboards, Chrome brake peddle and extra large peddle, Chrome handlebar cover, two chrome flag pole and blue tooth sm10 for the radio. So I'm all ready for my first ride of the year Saturday (our annual Run for the Son). Here are the last photos of the completed work. I hope you have a great year camping Bob!
