I'm thinking of taking of the back fender like some people did. I was wonder if anyone has good ideas(cheap) for what to do with the light and plate. I see some put it under the seat, was wonder how they did it.

thanks

Heres what I did. For the lights I ordered led license plate bolt lights(not pictured). The plate mount is also off ebay

In Wisconsin if you have your plate read any other way than left to right the troopers, and County Police write you a $200 ticket. They do not care if you are 18 or 65 years old it is a fine. So check your state laws, or the law of States you travel to.

He needs to get some night time photos of this but here is what bjt did with NMN bracket so that he could remove his rear fender.

Sorry about the thread hijack

If he's got his registration with him (and I'll bet he does)... and he can tell his story while whining and begging in a presentable fashion ... probably not many. :D

no light

I believe he has/had small LED lights which were in the license plate mounting bolt heads. I've used them before, also.

I never mounted it, but I bought a little fender eliminator kit for a Hyabusa and it comes with lights. It was on ebay for under 25.00. Scews right into the undertail black textured plastic. Looks just like this one.

I found a piece of metal from a screen door, had the perfect angle in it, mounted it under the seat, the bolt in middle. I have the NM third tail light and it shines enough to keep the LEO's away. I do have to bend the plate up slightly when riding two up, the tire did catch my old plate a couple of times. Nothing major. Been that way for a year and no problems with LEOs.

None, not even pulled over or looked at funny in close to 5,000 miles without a plate. Tomorrow I'll be going to the Secretary of State office to get a replacement plate and remaking the bracket out of thicker metal. It seems like the previous bracket was inadvertently bent down, weakening the metal and then broke off when cruising down the highway. I think 1" X 1/4" angle iron will be plenty strong for my next attempt at the bracket. I am also thinking about a right side mount. Maybe I'll make two (left and right) and see what I like best.

get a plate relocation kit from http://www.evoluzione.net/.

I agree. Ken (a really cool guy btw) set me up with one and it looks clean and works with factory plug. Highly recommended.:2thumbs:

The only problem that I have with that undertail mount is that it can catch the plate on the tire and bend the plate. I know of one other person who has the Evoluzione Plate Re-locator and they have the same issue when riding two up. When I had my plate mounted on an undertail bracket, I have had the plate bend when riding solo. That's with the rear shock spring set to max but I weigh 260 lbs. so I get a bit more swingarm travel on bumps than most people.
