1330 spark plug replacement

What is the longest someone has run on the original plugs (miles)also has anyone used a dealer to change out the plugs how many hours did it take .Thanks

44,480 miles on the OEM plugs, and they still looked good...
10 hrs for this ole-guy for the complete operation... (2 5hr days)...
glad i did it, never again...

Family were Champion plug dealers from the early 1900's when you had to take the plugs apart and clean the porcaline, file the elctrode and re-gap pretty regular. Then came the one piece plugs that you just had to file and gap till you could bend no more and generally replace them with each tune up along with the points and condensors. But now most last 50,000 with the new materials and electronics in modern engines. I switched to the iridium plugs and the high tension wires from BajaRon and worry none.....:thumbup:

Thanks I checked with my local dealer today 3 hours labor only to do the plugs guess I hold off for a while i only have 36600 miles on mine

Mine made it to just over 30k before BRP replaced mine under warranty.

The old plugs were fine, but new ones came with the new engine. :-)

I have done a plug replacement on one that had 60k on them and I could see no wear at the gap and they were clean. Engine ran fine before and after the change.

30K on mine, didn't really need plugs at all. I just like tinkerin' !! I got the plugs & wire set from BajaRon. The wires are far heavier and help reduce engine whine. I would really expect the high end Iridium plugs to last 100K easily. Took about 4 hours at a snails pace, if you can take off the tupperware not a bad job.

A word of caution to those that run spark plugs for extended miles. In some cases, the resistor in the spark plugs will begin to fail and cause higher loads on the coils. With COP setups, this will show up as coils that misfire, even with fresh plugs.

Not that it happens in every case, but is one reason manufacturers with COP setups commonly advise around 30 k for plug replacements. My Tacoma is each 28k while the wifes Corrolla in 100k.
