View Full Version : One Day Delay...3 Days and a Wake-up

Well, we had a one day delay creep up on us. Need to transport our daughter and family from a San Diego flight, to Tucson. Cheaper for them to fly to SD and return to Seattle from Phoenix than a roundtrip to/from Phoenix. Go figure.
We accepted the WestCoastSpyder.com banner today from Mike. Already have 3 signatures (us 3). This trip has my stomach in butterflies, but once we get to moving, they will hopefully all fly away.
The first leg (starting Sunday) will be to Tucson, then on to cities East. We will leave Tucson Monday morning and our first sleep will be Ft Stockton, TX. We plan on staying on I-10 until we get to Houston. There we will take I-45 south to Galveston, cross to Louisiana on the ferry, travel the Louisiana coastline to Kaplan (my hometown, yep I am a pure breed Cajun). If anyone along the route wants to take a picture and sign the banner, send us a message, or post on this link. We will monitor it as often as we can once we start. We have started a new Album (Dudley and Jennifer's 10,000 Mile Journey). Any worthwhile pictures we take will be posted in the Album with captions on the pictures, not just numbers.

Long way to Ft Stockton in 100 degree temps., but being a desert rat, you know what you are getting in to (not a bad ride if it was 60!) Might want to have a plan B for El Paso. I PM'd you if you have some time in Tucson. Enjoy the ryde!

See you in late July give or take a day (or two or three). Hopefully, once on the road, butterflies in your stomach will be all you have. Road food is great, but some of it can cause various gastrointestinal upsets. Pack your Rolaids, Tums, Imodium and Pepto.

Thanks! I have had some internal fixings done from a major accident in 1980, so it can get even worse than that. I have learned to eat simple and light when traveling because I never know when it will go "belly up!"

Well Dudley, by the time you hit MI, it sounds like we will be home from LA so keep us posted. Not sure what your route is but we live about 5 miles off of I-69 and would love to meet and ride for bit with you.

Besides, you have to save whatever Gastro-Intestinal fortitude you have for when you come home -
Couche Couche; Boiled Crawfish; Crawfish Etouffee; Crawfish Bisque; Crawfish Pie; Andouille Pie; Frog Legs; Pralines; Corn Maque Choux; Fried, Grilled, Stuffed Catfish ;)

Ride safe
See you in a couple of weeks.

Maybe we can scrape together a group of us Michigan SpyderLovers to escort or hang out with you while you're here.

We hope to have Bruce from London meet us at Niagara, then ride back with him to London, where we will re-enter the states. So, we will be close to somebody at that time. This will hopefully happen around the first week of August.

I already contacted you by e-mail, Dudley, about hooking up. We look forward to meeting you and we'll be happy to sign the banner.

Our two kids were born in Metairie, Louisiana, and we lived in Slidell outside of New Orleans for 4-1/2 years. Enjoy!

I live in Cypress, Texas, which is NW of Houston. Depending on when you anticipate hitting the west Houston I-10 area, I'd love to meet you to sign the Banner. There would be a number of places to stop on I-10 west of Houston at the Fry road exit or the Barker Cypress exit. I teach a college class in the afternoon--2:45-4:50 MTWTH and am off on Fridays. My cell # is 281-686-5433. Not sure if this fits your travel schedule or not, just let me know.

Coming back to the US at Sarnia / Port Huron? If so, depending on day and time, dltang and I could meet you and escort you towards Scotty's place or maybe even make the entire ride to his place. We are about 1 hour west of Port Huron and 2 - 3 hours northeast of Scotty.

That's the spot. Date unknown, but in about 5 weeks, we'll know. Looking forward to meeting everyone.

I hope it is before Aug. 6th. I leave that day for two weeks, going to Kenya. If I can't be there, I know my husband will though. Have a safe journey and hope to meet up with you.

True, almost any day in August may work for me as its rumored we'll be laid off (again) for three weeks in August.

We could also head over your way. That would help save BJT gas money. :D

 I don't have 25+ classic bikes to entertain with but I could give a tour of my Kubota ZD25. :D (though by the looks of my yard this morning, you'd think I never use the thing.) :D :D :D

I don't have antique motorcycles either. but my 1988 Sea Doo now qualifies as antique. That is what started the whole BRP/Rotax fascination that lead to the Spyder. After the last two days of rain, I can almost use it in my backyaerd. Enough rain already.

I don't have 25 either, just 23......and one of those is a newer BMW and the other the Spyder. That leaves a mere 21 antiques. I am working on numbers 24 and 25, though, but don't tell Nancy. She made up that silly "one-in, One-out" rule. :roflblack:
