Hello From the deep south, PA that is :roflblack:. Looking forward to the new year and riding season coming up. So hopefully we can post some local PA rides here if you know of any. The PA board is not very active. We can change that, have a lot of Spyders around and welcome to the new Rykers, I'm sure there will be a lots of them. SpyderLovers is a great Forum / tool that we should take advantage of.:ohyea:

CopperSpyder, I found an excellent book that is "A travel guide to over 8,000 miles of journeys in the mid-Atlantic". It has easy to follow directions with trip highlights for 30 routes in 9 states and all of this with less that 150 miles of Interstates! The title of this book is: Great Roads, Great Rides" It is broken up into one, two and three day rides. I am currently on my 3rd copy of this spiral-bound book as I have given a copy to a friend and another to the Ride Captain in the American Legion Riders group that I belong to. When I ordered this last time (if I'm remembering correctly), I believe that they will no longer be publishing in book form, but it may still be available in a downloadable PDF. I just checked on Amazon and Google and cannot find the book available in any form but, I will try to contact the wife of the gentleman that wrote the book and,if it's still available in any form, I will get back to you.

I checked through my "sent" emails and found the string of emails from when I ordered the guide the last time. The wife of one of the gentlemen that put the guide together said that her husband had died several years earlier and that since orders had dropped off significantly they would no longer publish the guide. She recommended at that time that she would honor orders through December of 2017. I sent an email yesterday asking if any copies of the guide might still be available either in print or as a downloadable PDF file, but have yet to hear back from her. I'll try again and let you know what I find.

I know that this is a great book if someone is looking for local roads to roam and maybe you can share the info you find with the other riders here. Maybe a club Ride Captain would find the book a good tool. What I'm hoping to start is for SpyderLovers in the PA area like Riders, Clubs or just local businesses are, say doing a all bikers get together for a good cause or just to do it and ride as a group. I hope to meet you and other riders that post here on SL. Last year for example here in Waynesboro, PA we had a Bike Night for all bikers (was the first) lots of bikes downtown was fun. I belong to other groups (CMA & PGR) and enjoy them also. I have two bikes a HD street and now a Spyder RTL. I hope to rest the HD and use just the RT this year. So post your local PA area event / ride.:yes::yes:

Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I was able to contact the wife of the gentleman that was a co-author of the book (he has since passed away). She does still have about 100 of the printed books, but has no plans to make any of it available in PDF form. I had paid $24.95 for my books, but she is willing to let them go for $20.00. If anyone out there is interested, please PM me and I will give you her contact information.

Also, if you are a veteran (or the son or daughter of a veteran) some American Legions have "Riders". Something to look into.

Nothing is definite so far, but the Director of our American Legion Riders group has been in contact with the organizer of the Rolling Thunder event. He was told that the reason that they are getting out of this event is the cost, around $200,000. Since this a "weekend" event, they have to pay for security and, of course, that means overtime. We are looking into recruiting other American Legions and VFWs to see if we can get their commitment to join in and at least help to defray the cost so that we can continue to enjoy this event. I will keep everyone posted on our progress.

It was NOT my intent to hijack this thread.
