i don't like chrome myself. i been trying to find a way to de-chrome my kury grips so i can put them on spyder.

i did say he spent alot of money, i did not say i like it:D but it's all about individuality when it comes to spyder i think.
it reminded me of them low-riders with jumping hydraulics.

No one else has to like it but him. Just because you are on a forum and don't see a person face to face does not mean you can't hurt someone's feelings. If you don't care for it, you can say that but be a bit more gentle folks. On that note, I will say, it is not my thing but I do appreciate the look and the hard work and I truly hope that this owner enjoys his spyder and has lot of great riding miles.

You guys cut me some clack because you know me but the other forum provided no such leeway. I doubt I'll be back there as a result and as Deb said, this owner isn't likely to make a home here either.

I like the swing arm work personally. The paint is a little busy though and ads on Spyders are a :lecturef_smilie: to me. It screams "dealer bike" to me. I'm always partial to bikes that are ridden- not trailered a block away to be ridden to the show.

James, that is your decision to make, but I think everyone here should understand that the responses to your machine on "the other forum" were overwhelmingly positive, and it was only one or two posters who were negative about it. :dontknow:

I agree. If I see something I don't like I either don't say anything about it or will state in so many words, "it's not my cup of tea but congrats on getting what you wanted" (unless its a jeuchler post, then I'll be brutally honest :D). The guy that customized that bike also did my bike. That was what the owner wanted so thats what he got. As you can see from my photos for the new Black Widow, I don't really care for chrome but a lot of people love it. The way we customize our bikes really is an extension of you, so it is what you like. No one else has to live with it but you, so make yourself happy.:2thumbs:

I'm afraid that I agree that comments do not have to be "brutally honest." There is a polite way to say that you don't care for things someone else has done. I don't think any of the comments here really rose to the level of flames, but they were not sugar-coated, either. A little tact can go a long way to making new friends feel at home here. A quick look in the mods section will show you that we all have different tastes and styles. Let's all try to remember that.

As a frequent bike show head judge, I run into the question of personal taste quite often. I tell my fellow judges to remember that the workmanship is what counts, not a judge's personal taste or even his opinion of artistic interpretation. "Is what was done, done well?" "Does the custom work fit the vehicle." Those are the key questions, not "Do you like chrome or advertising?" (End of rant.)
