This from Facebook:
Most of you know who Lamonster Lamont Bryden is...
If you are able... send prayers or healing thoughts his way. He's my buddy and I have known him for years... he's the "Spyderman" in our Spyder community. Here's the update from Joan.
Last week we hosted our event Spyders in the Ozarks. Lamont knocked himself out for weeks getting ready. As some of you know he got very sick Friday evening at the pie run and was sick at home ever since. He had a high fever from then until Monday or Tuesday. I kept begging and pleading to let me take him to the hospital. No. He had 3 appointments within 24 hours and the surgeon gave us news I wasn’t ready to hear. Supposedly he had a clear ultrasound in July. Now he was recommending a liver transplant instead of zapping the potential cancerous lesions. How did we get here? Last week this wasn’t even a consideration. I’m in shock. He was scheduled to have more tests run yesterday. He couldn’t keep anything down. But he could hardly get in the car. So I took him to the ER. So far we got acute renal failure, his kidneys were starting to shut down. His lipase level was nearly 3000. His liver and kidney labs are not good. He has pancreatitis. They are treating him with massive IV fluids for dehydration and no food or drink for the pancreatitis. He’s on heavy morphine for the pain and sleeping mostly. He’s in and out. I am going to have to make a more general post. I cannot keep up with two phones of texts and messages. I don’t want anyone bothering him although I know they mean well. Lamont has 3 sons, a sister and mother and I’m updating them as they are anxious. The only thing I ask is understanding. We still have a business to run and Jacob is handling it. Lamont and I will not be available 24/7 for questions etc as we have been in the past. We need time. We need prayer. We need compassion. We don’t have answers. We have to get him out of this crisis. Neither of us is from here so we have no family here in Missouri. It’s just us.

Lamont, will be thinking of you, and wishing you the best. You are #1 reason I have stayed with Spyderlovers over the years. It's because you have given your heart and soul to us. Your wisdom on how to be in life, in addition to being fair and impartial, has made all of us better.

You and Joan take all the time you need to get back on your feet again.

Don't worry about us, we'll be fine and police ourselves as if you were here:D

I met Joan and Lamont for the first time at Spyders in the Ozarks just this month -- what a joy to finally meet both of them! Joan and I have been friends online for several years and have helped each other through some tough times; like when my mom was so sick and then when Joan broke her foot just weeks before homecoming (a sounding board that doesn't judge, just listens, is a wonderful thing). I have known about some of Lamont's health challenges for a while now -- both he and Joan have posted bits and pieces on FB over the last several weeks. But to learn of his hospitalization was a shock, to say the least!

Lamont is a fighter -- an update from Joan:

When Greg called to tell us the RWF bike sold for over 200 grand, we both just broke down and cried. It was the best news and medicine he could have received. We were hoping for 50k and when our live feed cut out in the ER we just figured it didn’t go well. Greg Cain (https://www.facebook.com/greg.cain.146?hc_location=ufi) called. Craig Anders (https://www.facebook.com/craig.anders.16?hc_location=ufi) called. Lamont was too emotional to speak but he told me he wasn’t ready to die. He had more bikes to build!

Prayers for a speedy recovery!

Oh … one last thing. Please give these two dear friends their privacy and time to get through this crisis. Joan is doing her best to keep his sons, sister, and mom up to date -- she doesn't need a bunch of "us" pestering her for updates and sending well wishes directly to either one of them. Thank you …. I know from personal experience, overload is very possible and Joan does not need that right now.

All the best …. Ann

Update. Out of respect to his 3 sons and his mother and sister I am keeping updates close. I don’t want rumors and half truths hurting his immediate family. I can tell you he slept day and night all weekend. He’s heavily sedated. His numbers are going the right way.

10-02-2018, 12:07 AM
This is Joan. This is NOT Lamonster. I thank you all for the prayers and good thoughts. His sister is flying in from California tomorrow to come see him and help me make some decisions for his care. I have to get up early to make it for doctor rounds and just got through going through about 1,000 of his emails just since 28th.

I have had complaints of about too many prayer request threads and also about ten of you reported the post and you all know what I am talking about on the accident post. I have looked long at the post and tried to see how to handle it and I am going to leave it up because I don't want to take a chance on a soft delete. In the meantime, if that post offends you, just don't read it! It's that simple. I also understand people who don't want this forum to turn into a prayer forum. I cannot speak for the boss. Lamont is such a fair man and I have seen him handle situations where I would have just lost it. He never loses his cool. So I am going to have to ask you all to play nice, get along, and behave while Lamonster is in the hospital and unable to handle this and more.

I am still getting emails about help and questions and I am just forwarding them to Jacob at our shop. You can always call Lamonster Garage at 4173132245 and talk to the experts. We have to give Lamonster a break so he can get well.

If I see someone copy and post this message I will be very angry. Lamont has a family and 3 sons who are not taking this news very well. Today, he was going to be transferred to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St Louis and we were all for it and I went home briefly to get ready for the trip. When I got back, that had all changed so he is still in the hospital in Springfield Missouri. Again I know you all love him and want to be in the know but we have to respect his family. Please consider them. I DO NOT WANT COPY AND PASTES GOING AROUND!

I have only known Lamont for 4 years and have been married to him 3-1/2 years so most of you have known him far longer than me. The Lamont you see here and around and about it the same Lamont he is at home. He is a simple, honest, humble man who loves to help people and make them smile. He has brought more people together, not only in the Spyder world, but also in a couple other lines of motorcycles he has been involved with over the years. So let's pull for Lamont and cherish every single day of your lives. Things can change in an instant. I love Lamont dearly and I'm doing everything I can to see he gets the proper care so he can be back and around for many more years. All the best to you all and forgive me if this note offends anyone. I have been taking care of Lamont nonstop since our Spyders in the Ozarks event when he got very sick. I am worn out and we have much more to face ahead.

I am saddened that you would even have to take time to write a note like this. Your time should be spent dealing with your crisis and not having to manage anything else. God bless you and Lamonster.

Just got the sad news. I've been in the hospital in critical condition in a similar fix, and it is very difficult, indeed. Lamont has our understanding, our best wishes, our thoughts, and our special prayers. Hang in there, guy! It will take all you have, but I now you are strong and a fighter. If anyone can pull through it is you.

Joan, we have never met, but I wish you well with your juggling act, too. I hope you get some relief from the incredible stress. Just concentrate on Lamont and delegate the rest of the stuff. I wish I was in a position to help personally. Hang in there yourself.

Get well, Lamonster!

Is there anything we/the forum can do to help? Maybe a GoFundMe page to assist with medical costs? Maybe some folks who are local can cook and deliver meals when the family is ready for that?

I'm way south in Austin Texas but wanting and willing to help any way I can. If anyone has ideas on how to do so, please let me know.

Again, this is JOAN. Both Lamont and I have had a rough year for health and are over our deductibles and then some. We should be okay. I may add that our health insurance has notified us they will be terminating us December 31. It's always nice to have news like that in the middle of a crisis and that was BEFORE they knew about the recommended liver transplant. Yesterday, while a good friend stood in for me with Lamont, I met with a local broker, etc., who is going to help us get this and more remedied we hope.

His sister has flown in from California and basically I wanted her here with big decision help and just to see him and be with him. But, it has also given me time to go home and rest and also take care of the business so Lamonster doesn't have to face overwhelming emails and business stuff when he ever makes it back to his desk. Thank you for the offer.

Update not for forwarding to FB and copy and paste PLEASE!

THIS IS JOAN. Lamont had his best day yet yesterday. We did some routine maintenance and then we took a walk around the ward with the help of a PT and assistance. Details that I had not shared previously - they had given him massive IV fluids and starvation to deal with the pancreatitis. However, Monday morning he was wheezing so bad and I notified the nurse and they did nothing. However, when the real attending physician finally saw him for the first time (since the weekend is a very bad time to get admitted to the hospital) he had them remove the IV immediately. He was angry and said he could hear him wheezing in the hallway. They had overdone it and Lamont had too much fluids pressing on his chest, heart, lungs. They gave him Lasix and in one day he got out 3 Litres of fluids. This really put extra stress on him that his body didn't need. He spent the weekend on heavy morphine and then some for the pain and discomfort and slept most of the time. He is weak from being in the hospital since Friday and actually being sick a week before his admission. They have not talked about discharge yet. His numbers are going the right way but he still has underlying issues in addition to this crisis.

His sister flew in from California and got in about 6pm. She stayed there the night with him. I am getting ready to go in and relieve her so she can come home and rest here at the house. I want to thank you all for the well wishes and good thoughts. I really can't answer questions and I'm sure there will be opinions and yes, I have many questions and issues with the doctors. Especially the "clear" ultrasound he had in July which was wrong. One step at a time, we have to get him strong and out of the hospital and home to recuperate in a peaceful setting.

*In the meantime please play nice. I don't have the bandwidth to monitor this and reported posts and such. That is all I ask.

Another update from Joan, Lamont's wife. If you are my friend on FB you can read we had a setback yesterday. This is the second time my husband had a setback that could have been avoided with proper care and monitoring at the hospital. I don't have time to be mad. They must have given him pain meds during the night and the accumulation was too much and his ammonia level was up to 65 which is critical. You can google the symptoms of it and he had all of them. The quicker he gets out of Cox Health South in Springfield Missouri, the better. When you are in a crisis mode with acute renal failure, you really don't have time to pick a hospital. This is also not the time for second opinions for various reasons. He has been in the hospital for almost a week and was sick the entire week before. It takes a toll on your body even for a healthy person. His sister being here is a huge help for me. I just cannot wait for them to fix this problem they caused (the high ammonia) so that I can bring him home. He needs to get stronger before our outpatient visit in St Louis later in the month.

In the meantime thank you for your kind thoughts. Jacob and Tim are keeping the business running and I am picking up Lamont's emails and his end of the business so he is not overwhelmed with catching up when he is well and able. Lamont had the foresight to suspend new registrations as he likes to keep this site real and free from spammers. He will open that up again when he feels up to the vetting process of newcomers. Also, I would like to thank you all for your support and business at LamonsterGarage.com. The online store and our shop in Nixa MO is up and running as usual until the boss gets back.

I am sorry to hear of all this. I know it can be frustrating when you need health care and put your trust in there care and things like this happens. Please speak up to the doctor's and nurses if needed. I went thru some serious issues some years back and seemed they only would give me pain killers and cat scans and not find or resolve my issue until I had enough and let them know they need to find a solution to my health issue. Well another cat scan later and next I am in ICU and they finally found the problem. So be diligent on Lamont's health care. Best of wishes. Hang in there.

Here is a link to the FB video (not able to figure out how to post any other way).
https://www.facebook.com/LadyLamonster/videos/10212589994811268/

And here is the update from Joan:

This video is the day before Lamonster got sick. He hasn’t been well since and a week later he was admitted to the hospital with acute renal failure and pancreatitis. We had planned on watching the Barrett-Jackson auction of this Spyder build on TV, however we were in the Emergency Room trying to get a live feed on FB and we couldn’t keep connection. Lamont and I were hoping It would get $50,000 but when we didn’t hear from anyone, we assumed it hadn’t happened. The reason no one called us is because the auction went so well and it was sold for $80,000 and an additional $20,000 of donations and then the man who bought it returned it to the stage for auction again at which time it brought in another $60,000. More donations continued to pour in as the Road Warrior Foundation raised awareness of the good they do for our veterans. But Lamont and I were in the dark and didn’t know any of this and then all of a sudden Lamont’s cell phone rang. It was Greg Cain who was watching it live and I rushed into the hall so as not to disturb anyone in the ER. He asked if we were watching it and quickly told me it was at $160,000. I did a quiet scream and raced back into my husband’s ER room and told him. Lamont was so overwhelmed he began to cry. Greg was still on the phone and all 3 of us were crying with excitement for their success! I thanked Greg for calling as we were in the midst of stabilizing Lamont and getting him ready for admission to the hospital. Lamont told me then that he wasn’t ready to die, he had more bikes to build and there was more work to be done.
He had a very rough week in the hospital and this auction was really the last thing he remembered as they gave him heavy drugs for the pain Saturday and Sunday. He slept all day and night those two days. He got worse by Monday and they had overdone it with the IV fluids and needed to get that off him now. His attending physician wasn’t happy and wanted Lamont immediately transferred to Barnes Jewish hospital in St Louis for liver transplant evaluation. That’s when I asked for urgent prayers. The transfer fell through and he had to suffer through two more mistakes at this hospital. He had a good day Tuesday (relatively speaking) and then went into all the classic signs of high ammonia levels Wednesday. This was due to too many painkillers given. I kept asking about how Morphine (2 days) and then Oxycodone and another pill would affect his liver. Multiple nurses including the hospitalist said it would be fine. It wasn’t. Due to the kidney stress and his liver damage he could not clear and metabolize the drugs out of his system. A new sharp nurse picked up on this quickly and even challenged this hospitalist on his laissez faire approach. She was very concerned with his labored breathing and mental state. Thank God for her. She’s been a nurse nearly 20 years and she was wonderful as well as the night nurse, Mike. They have taken care of him the past 48 hours and Lamont is back. Mike challenged another decision by the hospitalist who chose to do nothing and even denied Lamont had breathing issues when we all could hear him from the hall. They put him on oxygen that night and also ordered another medicine by the on call overnight doctor to help take care of his worsening rales and edema. Thursday was good. He’s very anxious to get home and twice has asked for his clothes so he could leave. I don’t blame him. I’ve been in constant contact with his mom, sister, and 3 sons. His sister flew in from California to be with him. Lamont has had one of us by his side now 24 hours a day since Tuesday when she got here. I take days and she stays all night. I am so grateful for her.
Since the good news of the auction was the last thing he remembered in the ER and he hasn’t been on his phone or on Facebook to get updated, he would be totally out of it and then wake up and ask if I had heard any more from BRP about the auction. I’d remind him it set a new record and he’d be out again that quickly. God bless him and his huge heart for helping others.
Thank you for all your prayers and well wishes from all over the world. I’m hoping to get him home soon. We have a long way to go to recover and we have an outpatient visit with the experts at Barnes In St. Louis in less than 2 weeks. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers as we take the next step in getting Lamonster back better than ever! I felt the love and thank you all. https://static.xx.fbcdn.net/images/emoji.php/v9/f6c/1/16/2764.png

This is Joan:
Lamont got out of the hospital on Friday and we brought him home and he went straight out on the back deck to sit in the sun. I immediately left (his sister was here) and in one hour had purchased a recliner and arranged for it's delivery, grocery shopped, and picked up the dogs from the boarders. Lamont was weak from being in the hospital for a week and his weakened condition. But he started looking better Friday night, slept well, took a shower Saturday and he was up and moving around. He was discharged with the same 5 meds he was getting in the hospital. He looked great Saturday and the 3 of us watched a funny movie. Sunday he became nauseous and couldn't keep anything down. In view of the fact he hadn't eaten very much at all going now on 3 weeks along with not keeping food down, we went to the ER again. I just got home. They kept him. His sister flew home about noon time and it was sad for her to say goodbye to him there in the ER.

I think he will be fine. At this point we just have one more week until his big appointment at Barnes in St Louis next week. That's about all I got, I spent all day in the ER. Need sleep.

Thank you for taking the time to keep us updated. For every frequent poster on this site, there are bunch more of us who post from time to time who are also concerned and appreciative.

Sending :pray::pray: and good thoughts for you both!

Thinking of you guys every day. Hoping for the best! Rest up, think positive, and know you do have friends. Focus on being well. Everything else becomes secondary.

This is Joan and a brief update:
Lamont will be discharged from the hospital in the morning. Although he just had a brief episode where his blood pressure got very seriously high and it looks like it's going the right way now. I took him in Monday of this week and he spent 28 uncomfortable hours in the ER because the hospital didn't have available beds. It's far too much to type but by Wednesday he was looking worse than when I had taken him in. They did a procedure on him and pulled fluids from his abdomen area and sent some for cytology and culture. The fluid was infected and he was probably sick with this the entire previous week when he was in the hospital. They put him on clear liquid diet again, ordered more IV antibiotics, and he was even on oxygen for a short period when his O2 levels dropped during the night. He had a new hospitalist this time who actually seemed interested in his case and she ordered a GI doctor for her expertise and finally things are making sense. There's too much to type but the bottom line is this - Lamont will be discharged Saturday morning and I will take him home where he can rest without nurses and aides waking him up every 1/2 hour or so for vitals. From there he rests up and regains his strength so we can drive to St. Louis on Tuesday for his evaluation with the transplant team at Barnes Jewish Hospital on Wednesday. He's been sick ever since September 21st and really hasn't eaten much or kept it down since then. Please continue to keep him in your prayers, good wishes, whatever your belief system. My good friend, Tina, came up to stay over two nights to help me out and make sure I was getting my rest and eating.
I thank you all for your love and support during this hard time for us. Thanks also for no reported posts to keep my other job easy in trying to take care of the business until our beloved Lamonster is back! :)

Haven't been around on the site much this summer/fall---just caught this thread.

Very pleased to hear of Lamont's improved condition, and best wishes for a continued speedy and full recovery! I am very sorry to hear you (all of you) had to go through so much BS at times with the treatment regime, and those making less than good decisions! Sounds like you're past most of that now--here's hoping that remains the case! Sounds like all of you are maintaining as positive an attitude as you can--and that is certainly part of the recipe for recovery---so give the bad times a good whuppin' and we'll be here when you do!

Kindest Regards...............Flanker

I am guessing with everything going in their life right now that updating this thread is not a priority and I certainly understand that. I am sure when time and circumstances permit, everyone will be updated.

You are absolutely correct …. Joan made it pretty clear, in some of her last FB posts, that their focus is getting Lamont well and everything else is secondary. When time and circumstance permit, one of them will provide some updates.

All the best …. Ann
