RE: Stars for navigation

My other home had a wonderful view of the Big Dipper and the North Star. Because of our position here in AK, it was almost straight up from my deck. As the night progressed, the Dipper would seem to revolve around the North Star.

Ditto that Pete,
Todd, I don't say it enough. I go look through your flicker pics routinely and just love your compositions. Your black Spyder with the butte's, bluff's, and milky way are just beautiful. Thank-you again for sharing.

I wonder if that is Mars on the left just above the tree? I think it's way to bright to be a star.

Yes, Mars. It was REALLY bright. Jupiter was to the right of the MW but didn't make the cut! :)

Well..... thanks for the compliments!

Really.... a Spyder is the ideal vehicle to hunt the Milky Way. It is safer than 2 wheels at night and carries everything I need. At Big Bend NP last year I had a 6 foot camera slider hooked to it. That was a sight to see!

Saturn is just one of the dots at the base of the "core."
