I've done the trans-Siberian railway across Russia. This looks like an altogether different kind of train trip!

Alaska is still one of the states that run "tourist" trains between Anchorage, Seward, Talkeetna, Denali, and Fairbanks. We have the older style diesels and they pull some really nice Vista Dome cars.

They go by my place at least a couple times a day between May and August. Not cheap, but definitely worth the price (a couple hundred per person).
