Our EMS service is spec'ing a new ambulance, and we thought we were going with a Ford F-Series deisel, however, Dodge sweetened the pot a bit and could save us about $6500 with their 5500 gas chassis. Ready to pull the trigger and hear that they are shutting down production to move from Mexico back to Detroit. Hmmm, this could be a good thing.....It puts a delay in things obviously.

That's interesting, coming now as Ford is announcing it is dropping most car lines. Some major changes afoot in the car and truck industry it seems.

It looks like you may be waiting until 2020.

Ram Trucks formerly Dodge Ram Trucks are currently mostly built in Warren Michigan. The plant in Mexico had a much lower production rate but did build the heavier chassis. The last time I was in the Warren Truck plant was likely in 2004. At that time they made the Dodge Ram 1500 and the Dodge Dakota. Since then they stopped making the Dakota. I do not remember ever seeing the heavier chassis being assembled in Warren. Should not be that big a deal to add them to the production mix.
