Belt tension app

Has anyone ever tried a smart phone, belt tension app to adjust the belt tension on a spyder? I'm just wondering how accurate it is compared to using a krikit.

You turn the phone mic on, and have it facing the belt, but not on it. Then, pluck the belt, and the app picks up the sound and converts it to a frequency; then, compare the frequency in the chart for your belt to find pounds. I vaguely remember someone else asking, but couldn't find it. For my purpose, which is not for the spyder. I'll give it a go when I get my bike (bicycle with carbon drive).
