I have a 2010 RTSM5 that need both front and rear brakes, it also needs a brake actuator. I would like to do the job myself. Any recommendations on where to buy the parts? The dealer wants $302 to do the job.

Thanks
Jeff

Go to the homepage and click on BajaRon, he sells EBC brake pads, etc. You may need to get the actuator from someplace like cheapcycleparts.com

I have the BajaRon EBC discs and pads and they are WAY better than OEM. Plus, you would be helping one of our best supporting vendors.

About how many miles can I get out of the factory brakes before pads have to be replaced, I have about 24,000 on them now?

$302 doesn't sound too bad for all that you've indicated. (parts & labour ??)

EBC announced that their brake pads now come with the little clips that BRP uses to hold their pads on. BRP does not sell these separate so if you lose or break on u are SOL . Ask Ron to make sure the pas you get have the clips.
I only got 20,000 out of my rear brake but the fronts were good to 28,000.

Set up an account with Cheapcycleparts and you will get a cheaper price quote.

You have to insert something like needle nose pliers in the two holes in the caliper. Turn clockwise while pushing hard. Do not use a clamp to push in . It has to be screwed in. Other people have had this problem including me. I never could get the piston to screw in and had to take it to the dealer. Hopefully you will have better luck.

His bike is a 2010: no Brembos on it...

Just take a honkin' Big screwdriver, and insert it between the pads. You'll have more than enough leverage to pry them apart!

the pads on your Spyder should just push in. You may need a tool to push them in. I use a big "C" clamp.

Will vary with model transmission and ryding style. I got 33,000 on the rear and have over 40,000 on the fronts. mine is an RS manual..

Mine is a 2014 RT-S SE6, I don't ride agressively but willl have them checked this spring when serviced.
