Can the RT fit on a certain model truck?

Looking to buy a Truck that the RT can sit in or buy a SUV with a hitch. Any suggestions on the truck? I know which SUV I'll buy already.

Are you thinking something like a rampage lift to put the RT in the bed?

puts the Spyder in rear wheel first. The website looks like it shows a short bed pickup.

FWIW, we use a 7 by 14 enclosed trailer to haul the Spyder. Granted it’s a heavy and large trailer but it’s been outfitted with cabinets up front to hold riding gear and tie downs along with tools.

The longest bed length on any pick-up I know of is 8 feet ....the RT is 9.5 ft..... I have a Toyt. Tacoma pick-up that I made a flatbed for..... It's 7' 8" ...... I also have have a 7x14 enclosed trailer that I transport my 2015 RT Limited in. Safe to load and unload the Spyder. When transporting the Spyder is safe and secure!!

Due to the width of the bikes: you have to be above the wheel wells of the truck bed.
But I'm not happy with the Rampage setup, because you're putting an awful lot of weight: WAY up high! :shocked:
In my opinion: it's better to just buy a trailer. :thumbup:

Bob, I agree. I’ve got an F250 and would not want to have the RT way up there. The trailer is a much easier solution, lower cargo cg and, if you’ve got the truck, less cost (if you go open vs enclosed).

The longest bed length on any pick-up I know of is 8 feet ....the RT is 9.5 ft.....

AND.....if you are thinking of loading with a ramp, I don't think any pickup made has a bed low enough to use a ramp of reasonable length without the belly hanging up at the top.

If you want the RT to sit in the bed there is no such animal. Spyder is 5.5 wide and 9.5 long Truck beds are 8 x 4 and you still have to deal with the narrower width between the wheels.

Check amerideck. I have used one for my RTS for the past 5 years in my GM 2500 short box. Travelled much of North America this way. Weight and stability are not factors. Much easier and better MPG than using a trailer.

I have an F350 with a 9' flat bed. The Rampage fits in it with a foot to spare so I have no problem with length. An 8' bed with the tailgate down will give you plenty of length. My problem was height. Because of the angle at which the ramp loads, the higher up it has to go before it loads, increased the resistance. Therefore I needed a 3500 lb. winch rather than the 2500 lb. winch that it comes with. (safety reasons) The biggest draw back I found was the weight of the ramp. It's a ramp within a ramp, it comes apart easily into two sections. And even with that, it's a two man job removing or putting it into your truck bed,,,,,, even if you were Hoss Cartwright! I simply used a tractor to load and unload my Rampage ramp. Oh, the other thing is your hauling your spyder backwards so don't forget to remove the windshield. I bought my Rampage from a trucker who used it to haul his Harley cross ways behind his sleeper. I called the manufacturer of the Rampage to ask him questions about the ramp. He was helpful and a very nice man and answered all my question. If there's anything you want to know about the ramp, give him a call I'm sure he'll help you.

+ 1 on the no backwards. I have a vivid memory of a ride to Sturgis. Saw a motorhome with a wing backwards on a trailer with the windshield flapping like a flag. I do not recall what was keeping it connected.

The bed height for my Pk-up was 26" …. I had 10 ft. ramps and they worked fine ….. Mike :ohyea:

I'll throw out another option. When I wanted to transport my RTL, I rented an open trailer from Tractor Supply. This was a trailer they rented to people who needed to transport farm supplies home from their store. The spyder fit perfectly. There was 3 inches to spare on each side and 6 inches to spare in the front and rear. Cost was $25.00 per day. A lot less expensive option for occasional use..... Jim
