For MN, Betty's is a must for any northshore trip, been there many times, never disappointed, often leave with Pie's to go.
And every one of our Mississippi River runs goes through Stockholm's Pie, just off the Great river road, looks like I gotta check out the Iowa and Dakota's shops next...:ohyea:

Oregon: Random Order Coffeehouse & Bakery (http://www.randomordercoffee.com/)
Everyone from Food & Wine (http://www.foodandwine.com/slideshows/food-and-wines-favorite-places-for-pie#12) to The New York Times (http://www.nytimes.com/2009/02/01/travel/01surfacing.html) has been singing the praises of Random Order's scratch-made pastries, especially its fancified take on American apple pie. Head baker Kim Bahraoui nestles Granny Smith and Pink Lady apples in caramel, before sprinkling the top crust with salt and sugar scented with Tahitian vanilla.

Been to Betty's Pies on the North Shore when I lived in the area. Great Pies. We used to hit that most every time we were returning from a canoe trip up North. Pierres Pizza in Grand Marais for Pizza and a Killians Irish Red, Betty's Pies for desert. It was featured on one of the food shows on TV. Good pie.:bowdown:

I looked up Alaska. I know exactly where that one is. Only about 20 miles away. Will have to check it out.

I'm a cannolo person; that's the singular of cannoli. I hope I didn't stray to far off topic.

I guess I'll have to venture down to Petee's Pie Company, and see if they have cannoli.

Have you checked this one out? It's Nevada's best per the article

Nevada: Southwest Diner (http://www.southwestdinerbouldercity.com/)
All that Hoover Dam sightseeing is enough to make anyone hungry. Drive 15 minutes down the main road, and you'll end up at this Boulder City classic, where the pies are not to be missed no matter which seasonal variety it has in store.

The one listed for Ohio is closed, but Peggy Sue's Steak and Ribs in Newcastle, Ohio has great pies. It is over 100 miles from me, but some great roads makes it a nice day trip.

never heard of Penny Ann's,but it is just up in Draper only about an hour and a half from me. Have to give it a try. Veyo Pies in Veyo in Southern Utah is about the best around but the Sunset in Bicknell is really great especially the Pickle Pie. Oh Veyo also makes good meat pot pies.

We'll need go to Penny Ann's and try it Pete

I stopped in Pie Town, New Mexico on the way home from Arizona one time. They had good pie at the pie shop. The town (if you can call it a town) is VERY small. I think it consisted of just a couple of restaurants and not much else.

Good find!

Its name comes from an early bakery for making dried-apple pies that was established by Clyde Norman in the early 1920s. Pie Town is the location of a "Pie Festival" on the second Saturday of each September. Pie Town is also located immediately north of the Gila National Forest and not very far west of the Plains of San Augustin, the location of the Very Large Array radio telescope, which is also located along U.S. 60.

Hard to find bad pie in Julian.

A few of my favs:

The huckleberry pie at the Park Cafe in St Mary Montana (Glacier NP)
Julian Apple Pie Co in Julian CA
Homemade peach cobbler from Q4U (great BBQ too) in Frisco CO
Apple Pie with cinnamon ice cream, at Echo Lake (Mt Evans) CO
Colorado Cherry Company in Lyons CO

Google 'em first, they are a little ways out of town on 36 towards Estes. They also have a location in Drake, up the Big Thompson Cyn.

Different kind of pie:

There's a couple of good Irish pubs in Denver that serve up some authentic Shepherd's Pie, washed down with hearty draughts of Guinness.

There's a regional chain called BeauJo's Pizza that serves up what they call Mountain Pies (Thick crust pizza stacked with fixings). You drizzle honey on the crust afterwards as dessert. Goes good with some local microbrews if you're in the area.

Wisconsin: Stockholm Pie & General Store (http://www.stockholmpieandgeneralstore.com/)
If our grandmas decided to open a bakery, we can't imagine it not looking like Stockholm Pie & General Store, which has nailed every detail right down to the gingham tablecloths. It's hard to go wrong with any of the oversize wedges from the chalkboard menu, whether it's the seasonal rhubarb custard or double lemon pie.

I have eaten Southwest Diner, but didn't try the pie. I guess I'm going back.

I also like Veyo Pies in Veyo UT. Very nice ride to get there as well.

The shop in California is locate don the coast a little south of SanFrancisco. They were featured on Diners Drive-ins and Dives. They are famous for their Ollalieberry Pies. This is a cross between a Black Berry and a Logan Berry. Very very tasty. I have not been there but plan to go as they are also famous for their Cioppino too! Road Trip!
