View Full Version : Cold wind striking my hands

For my F3L - 2016, now that it's starting to cool off, I notice the wind coming over the mirrors directed right at my hands. Is there any sort of small wind deflector that would lift that wind, even a few inches? BTW, I have the Baker Airwings and Legwings and they do a great job with this and the rain. But, the hands are getting nailed.
Thanks!

If you search around, they make wind deflectors that attach to your handlebars.

My hands were also getting pelted by bugs and road debris on my 2016 F3L. I went with the Madstad 16" shield which is 3 inches wider than stock. When I check for where the wind protection ends, it is calm all the way to the end of the handle bars. My ungloved hands stay warmer further into the season and almost nothing is hitting my hands anymore. This shield also stopped the cross wind that was catching my open shield that was happening with the stock one. I'm 5'm and ride with my helmet shield open and the wind hits the very crown of my helmet. I went with the medium grey as it gives the bike a nice accent look and I can easily see thru it at night. With my Baker Wings closed under the mirrors my cockpit is as calm as my RT was.

While working the bike shops back when, we handled a bunch of bark busters that were hand protectors for off road and mounted to the bars. I have the RS with the covered bars and they don't work for me. The F3 has open bars so should work. I use several gloves from regular to heated....

I have the RS with the covered bars too. I simply went with deflectors that attached via the bar ends.

saw that thread,
so how do they work with being mounted only on one end?
Do they flex at speed and come back toward your hands or are they strong and don't bend?

OK, those are some viable options, maybe just use them during the really cold months. I was hoping there was some minimalist solution. It's like everything is protected, when you want it to be, except that very small spot at the knuckles.
Thanks
