2016 RTS SE6,
Should I do the 1st oil change myself or should I have a dealer do it? I have 1900 miles on the bike. I bought an oil change kit but don't necessarily have to use it on the 1st oil change.

:congrats: and :welcome:

Recommended is to have the dealer perform the first oil change (break in) service. They are supposed to go over a check list to make sure the :ani29: is going good.

Recommended time is at about 3,500 miles or so. The NEXT oil change is then 9,000 or so miles later--THEN--every 9,000 or so OR once a year.

Self work is good--just keep receipts and a good log of when you did it.

Plan on about $350 parts & labor if the dealer does it.

You still have 1100 miles to go before your first oil change. First oil change is due at 3000 miles. I had the dealer do my first oil change and I have been doing on own ever since. It's not a hard job at all. Now get out there and put some more miles on the bike.

On my 14 we did the oil change and the dealer did the rest of the first service. I have already done the first oil change on my new F3T and I will have the dealer do the rest again. I did the oil change early and it looks like I'm late on the rest of it.

I'm sitting at 2400 hundred and dealer appointment is 3 week wait to get into dealer.

No worry, your :spyder2: will not blow up if not serviced at the exact mileage. As long as you are finding nothing wrong, you should be good to go.

I've got 2100 miles & I'm planning on getting my 3k service when I get my inspection done which runs out in October. If I hit the miles before then I'll take it in. I had called Brooks Powersports in Grantville and they gave me a price of just over $400 that included a laser alignment. I thought it was a good price. Any opinions???

$400 (including) laser alignment is right on. The alignment is in the $100 range and the oil change/check up service is in the $300 range.
