I have been searching the forum for info on helping the right side heat problem on my wife's 2011 RTS. I am reading many posts about replacing the can am gasket with a honda gasket (Y gasket?). I have not been able to find info about the gasket such as part #. Any on able to direct me to the proper place to find this info?

I used this on my 2008 GS.

Any honda dealer stocks them.. hope that will fix the problem but I would also wrap the exhaust pipe along that side...

The Honda gasket fits the GS/RSs. Not sure if they fit the RTs...

The heat does sound like an exhaust problem though. The way to test for a gasket failure is to take the tupperware off to get to the exhaust pipes. Find the joint between the springs near where the heat problem is coming from. Turn the Spyder on, cup your hands around the joint, not touching, and see if you feel air coming out. If air is escaping, there's your problem.

Here's something else you should be looking for when the tupperware is off...

If all else fails, the Honda gasket PN is 18392-MAM-000. Look at your entire exhaust system first though.

Hope this helps...

Joe. The Honda gaskets will not work for the RT. The OEM gaskets were fairly reliable on the RT. Is this a "new to you" 2011? Unless you're certain there is an exhaust leak, what you have happening on the RIGHT side is that pesky radiator exhaust. Look into the radiator exhaust block off plate from Spyderpops. And if you want to kick the overall heat issue, get the scoops from the 2013 RT recall installed. Forum search will get you all the info you need on that.

Three things to try before gaskets: remove splash pans from under engine, spyderpops block off plate and 2013 recall scoops.

Honda gaskets only fit GS/RS models from 2008 to 2012.
