View Full Version : Shifting, semi-automatic

I just did an oil change for the year on my 2010 RT with the semi-automatic. Changed both the oil filter and the transmission filter, started it up and have no leaks. I let it warm up, put it in reverse, backed out of the drive and shifted into 1st. Went through 1st and 2nd but when I tried to shift out of 3rd, no shift. I slowed, it shifted back down and again I went up to 3rd but it wouldn't shift into 4th. First time I've ever had this happen.

So, before I take it to the dealer, I'd like to know if anyone has had the problem or knows of a solution. It's thrown no codes, by the way. I have a little over 20,000 miles on it.

Thanks.

Might want to check that trans filter. Our brand new machine was shipped with a damaged trans filter and it caused all kinds of shifting issues.
Just a thought, especially if it wasn't doing this before.

You said you let the engine warm up but you did not say if you checked the oil level when it was warm. Apologies, but that's the only thing I know to suggest checking on a '10.

Check oil level first.

:agree: If the oil level isn't right: nothing works properly... nojoke

Also,
Technically you need to drive it before you check the oil to get the proper oil level reading.
Good luck.

^ True that! ;)

And don't forget that the computer won't let you shift UP on an SE if you don't have the road speed & revs to pull that gear; just like it won't let you shift down if you are going too fast or revving too hard.... :lecturef_smilie:

So how fast were you going & what were your revs at when you tried to shift into 4th?

In typical Spyder fashion, I started it up this morning, took a ride and it shifted perfectly! We all know that sometimes "they" do that.

Thanks for all the input! Really appreciate it.
